We suspect that the car was taken pretty good care of. When we bought it, it had only 67k original miles, and there are no signs of any rust on the body or fading in the interior. Thanks to the Nova Mailing List, I was able to research my vin number, and discover that my Nova was number 39,597, and it was produced in Tarrytown, NY. The motor and everything is the original.

As far as the technical aspects are concerned, my car is a 1977 2-door coupe. It has the original 305/2bbl. It is backed by a TH350 automatic and a 2.56:1 open rear end. Not exactly a stop-light warrior, but it'll purr on the backroads. Among other "luxuries" are power steering, power brakes, electronic ignition, and air conditioning.

Some of the more interesting options include red paint (Code 75), dual sport mirrors, dual exhaust, 305 V-8 (with a/c), carpeted floor (but vinyl seats), AM/FM radio (but only one speaker), no cigarette light nor trunk release, and rally wheels with radial white walls. Now, you may not think those are unique options, but if you think about it, the late '70's was the time for emmissions, the gas crunch, and the import car craze. Performance and appeal was not exactly the focus of most American car buyers; especially not elderly ladies. I think to find a standard 2-door Nova with this option combination is somewhat odd and really interesting. I think that if I were to hot rod it, I would detract from the car's mistique.

The only significant flaw in the history of this car, is it used to carry a small dent behind the driver's side door from where the previous owner cut the side of a garage or something of the like too close. Fortunately, this past summer, I got a job working part time at a Chevrolet dealership, and the body shop was nice enough to pull it out for me.
