The New Album, The New Stabbing Westward
Daniel Child sent me a conversation he had with Andy K regarding a whole lotta stuff.  Dan's been around for a long time, so I'll pretty much garauntee this is legit.  Have a read:

X poet96:   good evening andy
X poet96:   how's the album coming?
Andy:       we're just beginning rehearsals now......
Andy:       we've been writing
X poet96:   so i've heard
X poet96:   everyone is getting in on writing from what i have heard
Andy:       we've demo-ed 40 songs.........we start recording on Oct. 15th
X poet96:   do you have any clue on # of tracks or anything?
X poet96:   40?!?!?
Andy:       # of tracks on the album?
X poet96:   yeah
Andy:       12
X poet96:   are you getting excited to get back out on the road?
Andy:       on the road?......we haven't even done the album yet
X poet96:   sorry....kind of a stupid question
X poet96:   i just can't wait to see you guys again....
Andy:       well.....touring is a given.....but one must have the album before one even thinks about the tour
X poet96:   yeah.....so how is koch treating you guys?
Andy:       great....it's a really great place to be..
X poet96:   much better than colombia/sony?
Andy:       yes.....
X poet96:   are they going to publicize this next album more than sony did with DD?
Andy:       yeah.......i'm sure they will.........
X poet96:   a couple people said you guys got a big advance on the album
X poet96:   cash wise
Andy:       not any different from any other label advance......we have to eat, ya know?
X poet96:   people just made it out like it was a "huge fucking advance" so i was kind of curious
Andy:       ha...no........
Andy:       if we were really in this for the $ we could have held out for longer and really gone for the cash
Andy:       there was quite the bidding war
X poet96:   really?
X poet96:   between what labels?
Andy:       yeah...but KOCH has offered us total freedom.....
Andy:       so...we took it
Andy:       so we can be HEAVY.....and POP....and SOFT...and WEIRD........without having to deal with the politics
Andy:       it's gonna be a different record for us...
X poet96:   so is the album pretty far reaching
Andy:       yes
Andy:       it will have it's typical heavy moments.......but it'll be really pop at times...and really weird at times as well
Andy:       we're moving on
X poet96:   last time we talked you said it was very melodic
Andy:       very much so....
X poet96:   it sounds like you guys feel really good about the direction it is going in though
X poet96:   is walter doing much programming?
Andy:       some..........he's actually playing quite a bit of guitar
Andy:       it's not a very program heavy record
Andy:       it's very loose and organic
X poet96:   clean guitars and such?
Andy:       some......yes
X poet96:   any acoustic?
Andy:       some
X poet96:   WOW
Andy:       it's a return to the WITHER sound......especially since Mark has moved on
X poet96:   mark is gone?
Andy:       oh yeah...
X poet96:   i didn't hear about that
X poet96:   conflicting views or what?
Andy:       he wanted to do other things.......and we did'nt want to stand in his way.....
Andy:       no....we're all good friends.....
X poet96:   does he have a new project?
Andy:       he just wants to do other things
Andy:       not that i'm aware of
Andy:       but it's cool...we're all good friends and we wish him the best
Andy:       i'm sure he'll get something going
X poet96:   good for him
Andy:       people move on...........it's part of life
X poet96:   yes it is...and your new record proves exactly that..
Andy:       we did the WITHER album without a guitar player...........Jim and I played our butts' off on that album.......so...it's nothing new.....
X poet96:   yeah
Andy:       just a little weird on the personal side...
X poet96:   well it is good to hear all is well
X poet96:   you looking forward to recording in san fran?
Andy:       all is as all is.................
Andy:       yes.......
Andy:       Jim lives in SF...so...he's happy
X poet96:   who's going to be mixing the album?
Andy:       ED BULLER is producing it......and we're mixing with TOM LORD ALGEE and BEN GROSSE
Andy:       it should rock
X poet96:   thanks for the info
Andy:       yup
X poet96:   take care of yourself
Andy:       takw care....later
