Bobby Hart
He put the Hart in Boyce and Hart. Co-writer of many of the Monkees most famous songs ("Last Train to Clarksville", "Words", "The Theme Song", "Valleri", etc.) Like Boyce, he originally auditioned for a role on the show but the producers decided to make them the songwriters. Hart's band The Candy Store Prophets were the opening act on The Monkees first U.S tour. Bobby and Tommy had some solo success after The Monkees.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The three piece band featuring Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding and the best guitar player ever, Jimi Hendrix. Peter and Micky saw them perform at the Monterey Pop Festival and immediately made it their personal goal to book them to be their opening act on their Summer 1967 tour. The Jimi Hendrix Experience lasted 7 dates before quitting the tour. Jimi stayed somewhat in touch with Peter before he died in 1970.
Danny Hutton
Auditioned for The Monkees. Later formed a little band called Three Dog Night (ha!), who would dominate the American music scene in the early 70s.
I.J Jefferson
Appeared in the Monkees movie "HEAD", in which she's seen kissing all four Monkees. Her real name was not I.J Jefferson, it was Mimi Machu, and she was (at the time), the longtime girlfriend of "Head" co-writer, Jack Nicholson. Mimi also appeared in the film Psych-Out! Her and Jack broke up in 1970.
I got I.J's picture here
Davy Jones
If you don't know who Davy Jones is, please go here. Thanks.
Linda Jones
The first wife of Davy Jones and the mother of Talia and Sarah. Davy met Linda, a clothes designer, in Hawaii when The Monkees were playing their first ever concert in late 1966. Linda and Davy got divorced in the mid 70s.
Sarah Jones
Linda and Davy's second daughter. Sarah was in The Monkees 1997 reunion episode.
Carole King
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted singer/songwriter. She wrote tons of hit songs in the 60s for other artists such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "The Loco-motion", and "I'm Into Something Good". She also wrote songs for the Monkees. Apparently Mike made her cry by his criticisms of her songs. Nevertheless, Carole wrote/co-wrote some of The Monkees best songs: "Take a Giant Step", "Sometime in the Morning", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", "Star Collecter", and "As We Go Along".
Donnie Kirshner
Screen Gems music boss, a.k.a SATAN. Only kidding of course. Donnie was the Monkees' "Music Supervisor". Basically he picked out what songs would go on albums and on episodes. He's one of the most hated figures in Monkees history. Donnie would ultimately be bired for not letting them play on their own records after Bert Schneider agreed to let the boys have 50% of the input on records. Before leaving for good, he offered the song "Sugar, Sugar" to The Monkees. After getting fired, Donnie had enormous success with that same song with another Pre-Fab "group", The Archies. He also had a tv show in the 70s called "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert". Although Donnie was a tremendous help to The Monkees careers in the beginning, he's responsible for most of their bad songs.
Rick Klein
Micky's shadow. In the 60s, Rick and Mick (sorry...had to do it) were the best of friends, each being best man at eachother's weddings. Rick was a stand-in on the tv show and you can see him pop up on many of the 2nd season episodes.
Monty Landis
Monty Landis graced a grand total of 7 Monkees episodes, almost always playing a bad guy. Monty is one of the most remembered and most loved of all the villians on the Monkees television show. I don't have any idea what Monty did before appearing on The Monkees or what he's been up to lately, so Monty, if you're out here somewhere, e-mail me!

Lewis & Clarke Expedition
(l to r: Johnny, Lewis, Clarke, John London, Ken)
A band from San Antonio, Texas. They were also on the Colgems label. Mike's best friend, John London played in the band and two of the members of the L&C Expedition penned the Monkees Tune "What Am I Doing Hanging Round?"
Lippy
The Monkees' favorite cameraman. Lippy also worked with Micky on "Circus Boy". He became a father figure of sorts to the guys on their tv show.
John London
Mike's shadow. John and Mike were college buddies who played in different bands together up through the mid 60s. John was a stand-in on the tv show for awhile before devoting much of his time to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. John was later in The First National Band. He co-wrote the song "Don't Call on Me", and played bass on the Monkees songs "All of Your Toys", and "The Girl I Knew Somewhere". He later played with Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor. John died in Feb. 2000.
Donna Loren
Before appearing on the episode "Eveywhere a Sheik Sheik" as Monty Landis' daughter, Donna was a teen star who appeared on shows such as the Mickey Mouse Club, Shindig and Batman. She also was a recording artist and a film actress, appearing in Beach Blanket Bingo with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, as well as appearing in 4 other Beach Party movies. Donna got married in 1968 and started a family and is now a clothes designer.
