I'm proud that you're my Mum and Dad,
I don't often say what I'm thinking,
so today I chose this poem,
to tell you that I love you,
even though I'm far from home.
Mum, always there when I needed you, you are the worlds greatest listener, never one to judge or
give opinions, just listening, understanding, only offering advice if asked for it. I remember when I was young and I
would be sick and have to stay home, you made me feel like a princess, often just sitting there rubbing my pain away....do you know
how comforting that was? I can still feel your hands as I think of it! I hope my children remember little things like that when they are
older and look back, because they are memories that are treasured. Dad, we became so much closer once I grew up and had children of
my own, I suddenly understood all the things you were trying to show me as I was growing up, I saw it in my own family and it made so much
sense to me. You were always showing us interesting things, challenges, puzzles, the dictionary, gemstones, all those holidays spent opening our minds and making us think about
how and why and I loved those times. You worked long and hard for us, but still managed to spend so much time with us and I love you all the more for that.
I want you both to know that I could never wish for better parents than you, I know that you will always be there for me, no matter how hard things are sometimes,
you have both proved how much just recently. I am proud to be your daughter and only hope that I can make you as proud of me.
