The Blue Ridge Parkway In NC

The scenery along The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most beautiful natural "monuments" we have in the United States. The Appalachian Mountains are very old and smoothed down compared to the Rocky Mountains in the West. They were the first mountains the Pilgrims encountered on the East coast, and are still as beautiful now as they were then. I can just imagine their awe when they first saw them.

Named for the smoke-like
haze enveloping them, The
Great Smoky Mountains
are the majestic southern
climax of the Appalachian
Highlands. The mountains
harbor a wildlands sanctuary
preserving the world's finest
examples of temperate
deciduous forest.
