TheRainforests - The Future As I See It
![]()
As I grew up in mountains of Western NC, the forests were a big part of my childhood. I used to spend long hours roaming thru them. When we lived in Asheville, a section of the "Blue Ridge Parkway" was about 1500 feet from our house. Momma never quite knew where I was, she just knew I was in "the woods". I had trails all thru those woods. There was a very special grove of Pine trees that I would run to when it rained. They were knitted together so thickly that I could crawl under their branches and sit while it rained and not get wet. I would just sit and listen to and watch the rain come down. It's no wonder why I love the rain so much. (As I am writing this, it is raining !) Living in Texas is hard on me because it rains so little, and there are so few trees. I really miss my childhood days of wandering thru the forests. I wish my daughter could have grown up with the wonders of the forests like I did. Please allow me to tell you of my fears for our planet Earth, our children's, grandchildren's, and their children's futures. We have all heard of the destruction of our Ecology, but few of us have really paid attention. It is REAL and it is NOW. If WE don't start working for the future of our planet, it won't be here for much longer. It will be here, but not in a way that any of us want. Could THIS be what we are heading for? Just because we who are reading this right now won't live forever, our children and their children and their children have the right to the things we have had. We MUST work together to save our planet from the destruction that is happening because of our inability or lack of want to see the future. It can be halted if we ALL start paying attention and demand that things change. Remember what we have always been told, "There is POWER in numbers".
