HAPPENINGS new and old
Cool news for Labels fans new and old! Black Labels members Gomez, Ben, and Norby have lent their creative forces to Acceleratii frontman and founder, Chad Lyons to embark on a new, yet kind of old school project.
The Accelleratii
Yeah, that IS THE ROAD RUNNER's scientific name.
BUT more importantly it's the name of the hottest MOPAR car ever made!

Featuring frontman affectionately known as Chad "You're fired, Gomez" Lyons, The Accelleratii are playing their first show on December 28th, 2005 opening for local legend Al Sparhawk's Retribution Gospel Choir. the Black labels will be headlining the annual WINTER RIOT at the Red Lion Lounge 220 E Superior St Duluth, MN.
The riot starts at 10:00PM give or take a few black labels, dead nazi's and whatever all else may be poured prior to, during and after this awesome event.
So, for those of our dedicated rockabilly and surf fans, the Labels have not abandoned those genres.
The Accelleratii will fill in some of the vacancies the Labels have created as the Labels are focussing more on Reggae, Soul, R&B and 60's tunes. A perfect opportunity for an uprising or revival of the old sound, the way it used to be with a twist incorporating some of the Psychobilly craziness. By adding some HOTROD music and 60's sounds, the Accelleratii will have a, authentic and raw sound that will once again be new , but NOT NEO as too many of the "oldies bands" are for the Twin Ports.
Accelleratii or Acceleratii, however YOU spell it...
They had a kick ass first show on the 28th of December. The Winter Riot opened up with the Acceleratii playing some fast paced hard edged psychobilly.
The crowd loved it, cheering and yelling as Gomez kicks off with the opening riff for Suicide Doors by Horton Heat.
Alternating between crazy paced psychobilly and moderate tempoed versions of old school Johnny Cash tunes, the band captivated the audience. Though their set was incredibly short, the Acceleratii started something fans will remember and be wanting more of.
There was a bit of a problem with feedback. However, Gomez has assured me that the band will have better arrangements for the amp positioning to eliminate the feedback troubles at future Accelerati shows.
Overall, a kick ass time for their debut show.
A group well worth checkin' out, and that's not just my opinion.
Second show at Dick's basement 3-4-06 went well. Good turnout, people enjoying themselves, dancin', etc... Thanks to all who showed up down there.
We really appreciate Jamie Ness for taking the time to come down and throw out a few tunes for the audience before the acceleratii played.
MORE RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
A little over a year later
As of January 2007, Norby is no longer playing music with the Acceleratii. However, he will continue to be the anchorman for the Black Labels.
