A short interview with AJ about his tattoos taken from a Smash Hits magazine....

Who designed your tattoos?
- I designed them. I've got one on each shoulder, one on my back, and one on my left forearm.

Where did you get them done?
- I got most of them done in Florida. A few were done in Germany

How long did they take?
- It all depends in how big and detailed they are. The one on my right shoulder ("Da Bone") took an hour. Some take less.

Why do you like them?
- Cause they're another form of artistic expression for me.

What do they mean?
- Well Bone is my nickname, so thats why I had that done, I've got my Asian star sign on the back. It's a snake - I was born under the sign of the snake.

Do any of the other Backstreet boys have any tattoos we don't know about?
- Just Brian - he has a cross on his left arm.

How many piercings do you have?
- None but my ears. I don't want anymore, no.

How much did the tattoos hurt?
- Some more than others. When they do it, first they put on just the outline without it being permanent , so you can see what it's gonna look like. That doesnt hurt as much as when they fill it in! When they coloured in the first one I got on my shoulder, I went pure white. But that was because I didn't know what to expect.

What did your mom say?
- She was like, "Make sure whatever you get, you like, cause it's permanent."

Are you planning to get any more?
- One more and I'm done.
