Country
Joe McDonald at Bath. 6-29-70. 00.5.am. Country Joe played
( yet again ) in the rain , early on Monday night.I have heard a considerable
portion of the set on an audience tape, good quality for the conditions,
with the crowd joining in with gusto on the Fish
Cheer and Joe playing a mix of old and new songs. No less than seven
Fish Cheers were completed , according to set scribe Graham
Broughton , who has clarified the unknown songs from the set list
for me.
SETLIST. Here I Go Again. Silver and Gold. ( Not so Sweet )Martha Lorraine. For no reason ( Change My Style) Balancing on the Edge Of Time. Ring Of Fire. Roll On Columbia. Flying High / Freedom. Maria ( You know the reason ) Fish Cheer >Fixing To die Rag. Fish Cheer > John Duprez > Fish Cheer.
Pix of Joe are taken from the Kralingen
festival which was held on the same weekend as Bath.

At this time Joe had
separated from his erstwhile partners-The
Fish and although in interviews of the time he was prevaricating
about whether the split was final, I don't believe he has played with them
since on any stable basis. The tape of this show is pretty
good, some crowd chatter, but otherwise little other in the way of problems.
Its incomplete, and I'd like to know if anyone has the missing songs. We
know that it started to rain again when Joe took to the stage , because
he mentions the fact. Given the conditions he did well to get the crowd
animated and freaking at the end to the Fish Cheer.
