Abigail
and Kevin spent the remainder of the day in bed. Kevin made love
to her a couple times to reassure her that he still loved her.
He asked her a lot of questions about her childhood and tried to
learn as much as he could about her. Now that everything was out
in the open, he craved to know everything there was to know
about her. There would be no more secrecy, although Kevin had to
admit Abigail had good reason to keep her past hidden. There was
still a lot to wrap his brain around, but he was determined to
let Abigail know that he supported her and he would not allow
this to change their relationship.
They
both reluctantly got ready to head to the venue for that
night’s show. Kevin had been able to convince Abigail to come
with him because he knew neither of them really wanted to be
apart for any length of time.
Everyone
was supportive when they both arrived. “I hope you don’t
mind Abigail, but I figured you wouldn’t want to tell the
whole story, so I filled the guys in. I at least told them the
important details.” Brian was the first to speak.
“Thank-you
Brian.” Abigail said as she gave Brian a hug.
The
mood changed as soon as two members of their management team
stormed into the room. “It’s about damn time you showed up.
There is a room full of press out there. What am I supposed to
tell them?” one guys exploded.
Kevin
wasn’t going to let anyone upset him. “You don’t need to
worry about telling them anything. I’ll go out there and talk
to them.” Kevin said.
“You
know that’s not the way things work Kevin.” The other guy
said.
“I
don’t care how it’s normally done. This is an extremely
personal thing. I’ll tell them plain and simple that I’ve
spoken to Abigail, I know the full story and I support her. For
now, they don’t need to know anything else. If we tell the
press anything more than that, it will be Abigail’s decision,
got that.” Kevin said, a little more upset.
“But…”
one of the guys started.
“I
don’t want to hear anymore. I’m here and I’ll be on stage
tonight. So you have nothing to worry about.” They finally
stepped down and Kevin made his way to the pressroom. He briefly
addressed the media with a simple statement before he
disappeared behind closed door again.
Abigail
didn’t venture far from Kevin that night, as he got ready for
the show. Abigail needed to be with Kevin to assure her self
that he still supported her and Kevin needed to keep a close eye
on her to ensure that she was all right. He hadn’t said
anything to her, but it concerned him that Frank’s murderer
had not been found and with all the publicity surrounding the
story, it put Abigail at risk. He had spoken to Carlos soon
after he arrived and he asked Carlos to keep a close eye on her.
That was an easy job considering the only time they were apart
was when Kevin was on stage. Abigail opted to stay backstage
because she wasn’t ready to deal with the fans or the press.
At least the backstage area was guarded a little more closely
and she’d be left alone if that was what she wanted.
Just
as the boys were finishing up the last set, Abigail told Carlos
that she was going to the washroom. Unfortunately, a group of
fans were getting a little out of hand and his presence was
needed to ensure the boys could make it off stage safely. While
this was happening, Abigail didn’t have time to scream when a
hand covered her mouth and dragged her into a nearby closet.
Abigail
panicked as soon as she heard the voice of her assailant. She
would never forget that voice. “Don’t make me hurt you
Alison.” He hissed.
“Who
are you?” Abigail said, not quite trusting her judgment.
“Aw,
come on Alison. You would never forget your husband would
you?” The voice said as he reached up and turned the closet
light on.
Abigail’s
instinct was to scream when she saw Frank’s face, but he
silenced her pretty quickly. “Shut the fuck up Alison.”
Frank said as he slapped Abigail hard across the face.
She
flinched and held her throbbing cheek. “I don’t understand
Frank. I saw you with my own eyes. You were…” Abigail said
before Frank cut her off.
“You
never actually saw my face did you Alison. How can you be so
sure it was me on the bottom of the pool?” Frank said.
“Who
was it then?” Abigail asked, as her heart continued to race.
“I
have no fucking clue who he was, but it was fun holding him down
and watching him die. You’re lucky it wasn’t you.” Frank
said.
“But…”
Abigail started to talk.
“But
nothing Alison. You meant fucking nothing to me. I needed to
find a wife and create the image of a happy marriage to make it
into the law firm. You were young, beautiful and vulnerable. It
worked out perfectly if you ask me.” Frank said.
Thoughts
of Frank flashed through her head. She couldn’t believe that
it was all a lie. “Then why did you make it look like you were
murdered and pin it on me?” Abigail asked as she started to
feel dizzy. This was all too much for her.
“Because
I couldn’t bring myself to kill you Alison, so I framed it on
you so you’d be in jail for a really long time. I had no idea
that fucking lawyer of yours would continue to investigate. You
know if you had of stayed away from your celebrity boyfriend, I
would have never found you.” Frank said.
“You
still have what you want Frank. I’m out of your life.”
Abigail said.
“No
Alison, you don’t get it. I think I’m going to have to kill
you this time. You were supposed to rot in jail for the rest of
your life.” Frank said.
“You
don’t actually think you can get away with this do you? This
story has captured the interest of fans and press all over the
world. My disappearance will make headlines Frank.” Abigail
said, trying to scare Frank in hopes that he would let her go.
Meanwhile,
it was just being discovered that Abigail was missing.
“Carlos, do you have any idea where Abigail is?” Kevin asked
as he searched the crowded backstage area for her.
“She
told me she was going to the washroom.” Carlos replied.
“And
how long ago was that?” Kevin asked as he felt knots start to
form in his stomach.
“It
was only a couple of minutes ago.” Carlos said.
“Was
it before or after we got off stage?” Kevin asked, knowing
that he had not seen Abigail since he got off stage.
“It
was just before you guys got off stage.” Carlos said.
“Damn
it Carlos, that was almost fifteen minutes ago. I told you not
to let her out of your sight.” Kevin said as he ran towards
the washrooms. He didn’t care if anyone was in the women’s
washroom. He barged in and felt sick to his stomach when he
realized she wasn’t there. Kevin ran back into the hall and
said, “Have them seal off all the entrances and exits from the
venue. I’ll be damned if I’m going to loose Abigail. Not
now!” This caught the attention of Howie and AJ who were
coming out of the men’s washroom.
“What
is it Kevin? What’s wrong?” Howie asked, noticing Kevin’s
agitated state.
“No
one has seen Abigail since we got off stage.” Kevin was
beginning to panic.
“Whoa,
come on Kevin. Have you checked the dressing rooms?” Howie
asked.
“No,
but I know something is wrong guys. I feel it here.” Kevin
said as he put his hand over his heart.
“Well
I’ll run down and check the dressing rooms. AJ, can you ask
Nick or Brian if they’ve seen Abigail?” Howie said. The
truth was, he knew Abigail wouldn’t just wander off without
telling someone, but he had to be optimistic for Kevin’s sake.
Before
Kevin had time to think, security was in action. The backstage
area was being cleared and Kevin was assured that everyone that
left the venue and parking lot were being stopped. ‘Please
god, let her be all right.’ Kevin prayed silently.
