Chapter Eight
The next morning, Amanda's alarm went off at eight o'clock.  She rolled over and turned it off, remembering her night before with Kevin.  She stretched and smiled, then got up and walked into the bathroom for a shower, wishing that she had some company, namely Kevin Scott Richardson.
Across town, Kevin woke up to a bright sunshiny day and the sound of Brian singing in the shower.  Brian walked out of the bathroom and grinned at Kevin. "Well Sleeping Beauty did you have a good night last night?"
"Yeah I had fun," Kevin said.
"You know it's a good thing we decided to leave from here you know-it was late when you got in last night."
"Sorry I hope I didn't wake  you up," Kevin said as he thought of who he would like to be with this morning.
"Nah you didn't I was half awake anyway-but I wish you could have seen the look on your face when you got in!"
"Why what did I look like?"
"Like someone had handed you the moon," Brian said.
"I think they did Brian-I met someone last night," said Kevin.
"Really?" Brian said, suddenly serious.  "Who?"
"Do you remember the woman we met at the Carters' that night?"
"Amanda? Yeah," Brian said grinning bigger than anything.
"What's so funny?" Kevin said.
Brian busted out laughing.  "Oh man, I knew you two were perfect for each other even then!"
"And just how did you know that?" said Kevin.
" Kevin, a blind man couldn't have missed the way you two were looking at each other that night."
Kevin grinned.  "Man she is so great."
"It's nice to see you smile like that again Kevin," said Brian.  "I felt the same way when Leighanne and I first met.  But right now we have to get ready for our flight loverboy," he laughed as he threw a pillow at Kevin. "Yeah I guess so," Kevin sighed.
The drive to the airport took them past the Ice Palace, and Kevin found himself wondering what kind of day Amanda was having at work.  He smiled to himself again, thinking of how great she made him feel, and how glad he was he found
her. "Maybe it is time to put away the old pain and bring some happiness into my life," he thought as he dozed off.
Meanwhile, Amanda was having a good day at work.  For once nothing was screwed up at the arena when she arrived, and now that the team had started their daily practice, she was really getting into the swing of things in her office.  It
was quiet up here when the guys were down on the ice, and she could really concentrate on her paperwork.
"Hey Amanda good morning!" said her boss cheerily as he walked past her door.
"Hey David! How come you're not down at practice?"
"Oh I had to come back to the office to grab something right quick-hey can you come down for a second? We need a second opinion on something," he said.
"Sure thing, I'll be right there," she said, with one last smile for the night before as she got up and followed him down to the main arena floor to swing her day into high gear.
