Love With A Price - Chapter 20

The next morning, both Kevin and Christy slept through her alarm. She was awakened by the sound of the telephone ringing. She answered the phone and heard Kelly on the other end. "Good Morning sleepy head. Did a particular guy with the name of Kevin spend the night last night?" Kelly said.

  Christy sat up in bed and looked at the time. "Oh my god, I can't believe it's nine-thirty." Christy said.

  "Take it easy Christy. You didn't have any appointments this morning, so take your time coming in. Everyone deserves a sleep in every now and then. I just want details when you get here." Kelly said.

  "No can do Kelly. I'll be in around lunchtime." Christy said.

  "Ok boss. See you then." Kelly said.

  "I guess you're late for work." Kevin said as he placed his hand on Christy's bare back.

  "I have never slept in like this before." Christy stated.

  "Well there's a first for everything." Kevin said.

  "Oh well. My schedule is clear this morning. I'm already late, so why not make it even later." Christy said as she lied back down beside Kevin.

  "I didn't get the opportunity to thank you for last night Christy. Last night was definitely equally as satisfying for me thanks to you." Kevin said.

  "Your welcome. I have to ask though. Was that the first time you have let anyone do that to you?" Christy asked.

  "Yes it was." Kevin replied honestly.

  "Will it be something you'll let me do again?" Christy asked.

  "You could probably persuade me." Kevin said as he leaned in to kiss Christy.

  After a brief kiss, Christy said, "So what are your plans for today?"

  "Unfortunately I will not be available tonight. I'm getting together with a few of the other guys to work on a new song idea we have." Kevin said.

  "Maybe I'll stay late tonight and catch up with some work." Christy said.

  "Don't do that Christy. I hate the thought of you working late." Kevin said.

  "Look who's talking." Christy said.

  "Yeah, but I always work weird hours like that." Kevin said.

  "And it's not unusual for me to work late either." Christy said.

  "You haven't worked late very often since I've known you." Kevin remarked.

  "That's because I have had a reason to come home." Christy said.

  "Do I have to give you a reason not to work late tonight then?" Kevin asked.

  "Don't worry about me Kevin. You have no idea how often I did it before you came along." Christy said.

  "It is going to be weird not seeing you tonight though." Kevin said.

  "Yes it will be won't it?" Christy agreed.

  "I would invite you over tonight, but I never know how late these sessions can go." Kevin said.

  "Don't worry about it Kevin. You need time to work as well." Christy said.

  "How about you come over tomorrow night?" Kevin asked.

  "I think we could work that out. But I won't be able to spend the night." Christy said.

  "You're welcome to bring Sheba over with you, if that's the only reason you can't spend the night." Kevin said.

  "Are you sure about that Kevin?" Christy asked.

  "Ah, she's a great dog. Of course I'm sure. Maybe you could bring her cage with you though." Kevin said.

  "Sounds like a plan then. God I'm going to miss you tonight though." Christy said as she tightened her hold on Kevin.

  “It doesn’t take long to get used to something does it.” Kevin said, knowing that being without Christy that night was going to be just as difficult for him. For a second he thought that he could convince the guys to come over earlier in the day so they could finish up earlier, but he knew no matter what time they started, they always wound up working until 2 or 3 in the morning. Kevin decided just to leave it alone. It would be difficult not seeing Christy for the rest of the day, but he had to start adjusting to not seeing her every day. Their one-month long North American tour was not that far away Kevin reminded himself.
