Love With A Price - Chapter 28
Kevin had to carry Christy up to bed that night. Once he
had her tucked into bed, he went around the house and ensured that Sheba went
outside and that the house was locked. Then Kevin took a quick shower and joined
Christy in bed. She only woke up long enough to ensure she was in Kevin’s
arms.
About half way through the night, Christy moaning in her
sleep awakened Kevin. Kevin recalled Christy did the same thing shortly before
she woke up screaming earlier in the evening. Kevin decided it might be best to
wake Christy up to prevent the dream from frightening her and waking her up.
Kevin sat up and lightly shook Christy as he said her name. Kevin had to shake
her a few times, but she finally woke up. “Were you having the bad dream
again?” Kevin asked as Christy looked up at him.
She closed her eyes again and shook her head.
“I wasn’t sure what to do. I thought it might be best
if I woke you up.” Kevin said.
“Yes thank-you. It’s better than sitting straight up in
bed and screaming.” Christy said.
“Are you less frightened?” Kevin asked as he gently ran
his fingers through Christy’s hair.
“Yes, a lot less frightened.” Christy said.
“I can’t guarantee that I will hear you every time
since I am a heavy sleeper, but I will wake you up if I think you are having the
dream.” Kevin said.
“Thank-you. I should have never let you go Kevin. I
really could have used your support in the past two months.” Christy said.
“Forget about it Christy. All that matters is that I am
here for you now. The whole attack wasn’t easy on you and I don’t blame you
for what you did.” Kevin said.
“Can we just go back to sleep? It will be nice to get up
tomorrow and feel somewhat rested.” Christy said.
“Of course.” Kevin said as he laid back down and took
Christy in his arms.
Kevin had woken up to Christy’s alarm and noticed that
she was not about to wake up anytime soon. So Kevin turned off the alarm, got up
and fed Sheba and put her outside. He then made a quick phone call to Kelly to
let her know that Christy would be in later in the day once she woke up on her
own. Then he crawled back into bed beside Christy and fell back to sleep. He
knew Christy would be upset with him, but he was doing it for her own good. She
obviously was getting a better night sleep than she had in a long time, and he
wasn’t about to wake her up. It was so obvious that she needed the sleep.
Christy rolled over and looked at the clock. Her brain saw
10:30am, but it didn’t register right away. She opened her eyes again and was
shocked to see the time. She looked over at Kevin who was still sleeping and
decided that she didn’t feel like getting out of bed. But she did pick up the
phone and call Kelly. “Morning Kelly. I’ll be in around lunchtime. I slept
through my alarm this morning and I’m definitely not in the mood to rush in
this morning.
“That’s okay Christy. Kevin left a message earlier this
morning to say that you would be in late today.” Kelly said.
“When did Kevin do that?” Christy asked.
“He left the message around 7:10 this morning.” Kelly
replied.
“My alarm must have woken him and when he saw me sleeping
he called you.” Christy said.
“So I assume you two are back together then.” Kelly
asked.
“Yes we are. And to be honest with you, I haven’t slept
that good in a long time.” Christy said.
“Well I’m glad to hear that Christy. We were really
starting to get worried about you around here.” Kelly said.
“I think I’ll be okay now Kelly. Well I’ll see you a
little later.” Christy said as she hung up the phone.
“You’re not mad at me for calling in for you, are
you?” Kevin asked.
“No. Thank-you. I obviously needed the sleep.” Christy
said.
“Yes that was what I thought. Don’t worry about Sheba.
She’s already been out and fed this morning.” Kevin said as he continued to
lay there with his eyes closed.
“You got up and did that when my alarm went off didn’t
you?” Christy asked.
“Yes I did.” Kevin said.
“Thank-you.” Christy said as she pressed herself
against Kevin and kissed him.
“Anything for you Christy.” Kevin said once they broke the kiss.
