Love With A Price - Chapter 55
Two weeks later
Christy was finally starting to feel like herself again.
The morning sickness had finally subsided. Kevin was totally obsessed with
touching Christy's abdomen. Christy was definitely beginning to notice a
difference with her body now. Kevin was loving how large Christy's breasts had
become and he became excited every time he looked at her expanding abdomen.
During the first interview that Kevin did on MTV, Kevin
announced that he had gotten engaged two months prior and that they were
expecting a baby.
The fans seemed to take it very well, at least the ones
that Christy had met. After a few days she was starting to recognize some of the
fans. She was now asked to stop and sign autographs and they were always asking
questions about Kevin. Christy tried to oblige as much as possible. Christy was
nearly brought to tears after an older fan stopped her and complimented her on
what a beautiful couple her and Kevin made, and it was obvious that she made
Kevin happy.
Christy had called Kelly at work to see how things were
going. "Hey Christy. I'm glad you called. You're mother has been trying to
get in touch with you. She's worried about you. She says it just not like you to
up and leave your job like this." Kelly said.
"I've been meaning to phone them for weeks now, but
just haven't had the time. Kevin has a few interviews to do today, so I better
make a point at calling. Thanks Kelly. So how are things there?" Christy
asked.
"Not the same without you, but things are going well.
How are you?" Kelly asked.
"Better. I'm finally starting to show and Kevin's
ecstatic. He's constantly touching my tummy." Christy said.
"So things are good between the two of you then?"
Kelly asked.
"Things couldn’t be better. He's been so
great." Christy replied.
"I'm so happy to hear that Christy. Well I had better
let you go. You know how busy things are around here. Good luck with your
mom." Kelly said.
"Thanks, I'm sure I'll need it. I'm sure she'll be
real thrilled to hear that I'm almost three months pregnant and not
married." Christy said. Christy hung up the phone and called her mother
right away. She wasn't looking forward to this call and she just wanted to get
it over with. Her mother finally picked up the phone. "Hey mom, it's
Christy." She said.
"Christine Meadows. Were have you been? Why did you
leave your job? Why is your home number disconnected?" her mother asked.
"Calm down mother. I am actually in New York right
now." Christy said.
"Why on earth are you in New York? You always hated it
there." Her mother said.
That was when Kevin walked into the room. "Hey
sweetie. Who ya talking to?" Kevin said.
"Hold on a sec mom." Christy said as she put the
phone on hold.
"Can I meet you guys down there for lunch. I finally
decided to call my mom. She's practically freaking out on me." Christy
said.
"Ok. Good luck. I'll be sure AJ leaves some food for
you." Kevin said as he lightly kissed Christy on the lips.
"Sorry about that mom." Christy said.
"Who was that? And why did he call you sweetie?"
her mother asked.
"A lot has happened in the past six months mom. That
was my fiancée Kevin." Christy said, waiting for her mother to start
screaming.
"Your fiancée?" her mother said.
"Yes mom. His name is Kevin Richardson and I love him
more than life itself." Christy said.
"The last time we spoke, you weren't even dating
anyone." Her mother said.
"I know. Kevin and I met about six months ago."
Christy said.
"So when do we get to meet him?" her mother
asked.
"Am I talking to the right woman here? I thought for
sure you would freak out on me." Christy said.
"Your father and I were just wondering last week if
you were ever going to settle down and have a family. We do want grandkids you
know that eh. And your brother certainly isn't gonna give us any." Her
mother said.
"Well mom, what would you say if I told you that you
would have a grandchild in about six months." Christy said.
"Are you trying to tell me that you're pregnant as
well?" her mother asked.
"Almost three months now." Christy replied.
"You weren't kidding Christy when you said a lot had
happened in the past six months. So why are you in New York then?" her
mother continued her interrogation.
"Kevin's doing some work here. He actually travels a
lot with work, so I decided to take time off while I was pregnant and travel
with him." Christy said.
"What kind of work is he in?" her mother asked.
"He's in the music industry?" she replied.
"I've never heard of him before. What exactly does he
do?" her mother asked.
"He's a performer with a group." Christy said,
wondering if her mother had ever heard of The Backstreet Boys.
"Well I just heard last week that the oldest member of
The Backstreet Boys got engaged. Too bad, the two of you would have made a cute
couple." Her mother said.
Christy's jaw dropped to the floor. She couldn't believe
what she was hearing. "Christy honey, are you still there?"
"Uh, yeah mom. You just caught me off guard with your
comment, that's all." Christy said.
"So when do we get to meet this guy that has swept you
off your feet." Her mother asked.
"Kevin has two weeks off once he's finished here in
New York, so we'll come out to LA for a few days then. I think he wants to head
home to see his mom in Kentucky as well." Christy said.
"So you gonna tell me what group he works for?"
her mother pressed.
"Actually mom, you kinda already touched on it."
Christy said.
"What, all I've said is one of the Backstreet Boys
would have been a good catch." Her mother said.
"Well I guess I got a good catch as you would call
it." Christy said.
"What are you trying to tell me Christy?" her
mother asked.
"My Kevin is part of the Backstreet Boys mom. I'm here
with him while the group is doing promotional work for their new album."
Christy said.
"You're not kidding are you honey?" her mother
asked.
"No I'm not." Christy said.
"Wow" was all her mother could say.
"Well mom. Kevin's waiting for me, so I should let you
go. I'll call you when we get back to Orlando and let you know when we'll be
coming out there ok." Christy said.
"Ok honey. Take care of yourself." Her mother
said as she hung up the phone.
Christy sat down on the edge of the bed for a second. She couldn't get over how strange that telephone conversation with her mother was. Kevin would get a real chuckle out of it for sure.
