Love With A Price - Chapter 62
1 Week Later
"I'm sorry that I can't come with you Christy."
Kevin said as he waited at the airport with Christy.
"I know how much you want to be there. I'm not sure
who it's going to be harder on." Christy said.
"I'm just glad Dr. Kosar agreed to hold off on the
ultrasound for a few more weeks. I'm not going to miss that." Kevin said.
Christy and Kevin sat there talking for the next twenty
minutes until they heard the first-class boarding call. "I'll call as soon
as I get to the house." Christy said.
"You better." Kevin said as he held Christy
tight.
"It's only two days Kev. We can survive this."
Christy said, hoping to make this easier on Kevin. She knew he was having a real
problem with being separated from her.
"I know. I just have to keep reminding myself of
that." Kevin said as he finally ended the hug.
"I love you." Christy said as she kissed Kevin
one last time.
"I love you more." Kevin said as he let go of
Christy's hand and watched her walk towards the gate. Kevin stood there and
watched as Christy walked to the gate and turned around waved before she
disappeared. Kevin never realized how difficult it would actually be to be
without Christy. He had gotten so accustomed to having her around for the past
couple months, that he was finding it very difficult to let Christy go.
A few hours later, during a photo shoot, Kevin felt his
phone vibrate. "Can we take a break for a sec?" Kevin asked as he took
his phone and walked to one side. "Hello." Kevin said as he answered
the phone.
"Hey sweety. How's the photo shoot going?"
Christy said.
"I'm sure the guys are just about ready to kick my
butt. I just can't seem to concentrate." Kevin said.
"It's almost over right?" Christy asked.
"Yeah, one more change of clothes and we're
done." Kevin said.
"Well, I'll let you go for now then so you guys can
wrap that up. I'm out at your place right now. Give me a call when you guys are
done there." Christy said.
"Ok. Talk to you later then." Kevin said as he
hung up the phone.
"Was that Christy?" AJ asked as Kevin joined the
group again.
"Yeah. She's at the house now." Kevin replied.
"Good. Maybe you'll be able to concentrate now."
AJ said.
"Let's just get this over with." Kevin said.
Meanwhile, back in Orlando, Christy decided to give Doris a
call and see if she could come over for a visit that evening. "Hey Doris.
It's Christy."
"Hi Christy dear. It's so great to hear from
you." Doris said.
"Yeah, it's great to talk to you to. Say, I'm in town
for a few days. Do you mind if I stop by tonight for a visit?" Christy
asked.
"Of course not honey. Why don't you come over for
dinner?" Doris suggested.
"I would love that. I've only been back for an hour
and I'm lonely already." Christy said.
"Kevin couldn't come back with you?" Doris asked.
"No. They're still on tour. It's killing us to be
apart though." Christy said.
"Sounds like things are still going well between the
two of you." Doris remarked.
"Things have never been better. I'll tell you all
about it tonight." Christy said.
"Come over any time Christy." Doris said.
"I'm waiting for Kev to call back, so as soon as I
hear from him, I'll head over." Christy said.
"See you later then." Doris said as they hung up
the phone.
An hour later
"Just leave him alone AJ. He's obviously upset that
Christy and him will be apart for a few days." Brian said as he held AJ
back.
"We all have to be separated from our girlfriends for
longer than a few days. Gives him no right to be an asshole." AJ said.
"Lay off him AJ. None of us have any idea what he's
feeling right now." Howie said.
"Everyone sure seems to be on Kev's side today, that's
for sure." AJ said as he stormed off.
"Kevin wasn't that bad today. He's just worried about
Christy, that's all." Howie said.
"Just leave AJ alone for a while. He'll come around
eventually." Brian said.
Kevin was signing autographs for a few fans that were in
the hotel lobby. He waited with the guys at the elevator and said, "I'll be
in my room for the next little while."
"We'll come and get you when we're ready to leave for
the press conference." Brian said.
"Thanks Bri." Kevin said as they all stepped into
the elevator.
A few minutes later, Kevin was in his room and calling
Christy. "Hey Christy." Kevin said as she answered the phone.
"Hey, the photo shoots finally over?' Christy asked.
"Yeah. We're back at the hotel now. How was the
flight?" Kevin said.
"I slept through the whole flight, so it wasn't
bad." Christy replied.
"Did you get some lunch?" Kevin asked.
"I just had an apple. I am actually going over to have
dinner with Doris tonight. So I want to be good and hungry for that."
Christy said.
"Oh that's good. I feel better about you spending time
with Doris than being alone." Kevin said.
"Would you mind if I let you go? I want to go take a
shower and get changed before I head to Doris's." Christy asked.
"Of course not. I'll call you tomorrow morning. I'm
assuming by the time we're done our show tonight, you will be asleep."
Kevin said.
"Of course I will." Christy said.
"Ok then. I love you and I'll call in the
morning." Kevin said.
"I love you too." Christy said as she hung up the
phone.
An hour and a half later, Christy pulled into Doris's
driveway. Doris walked out to greet Christy. "Look at you Christy.
Pregnancy sure agrees with you. You look great." Doris said as the two
women embraced.
"Yeah, I feel pretty good." Christy said as she
followed Doris into the house.
"How far along are you?" Doris asked.
"About 18 weeks." Christy replied.
"So that's about 4 and a half months then right?"
Doris asked.
"Yes, that's correct." Christy replied.
"Dinner will be ready in about an hour. Can I get you
something to drink?" Doris asked.
"I'll take some of your famous Iced Tea if you have
any." Christy said.
"Now you know I always have some of that made up. Why
don't you take a seat outside on the patio and I'll bring it out to you."
Doris said.
"God, I forgot how much I missed this place."
Christy called from the patio.
"When are you and Kevin gonna be home again?"
Doris asked as she walked out onto the patio holding two glasses of Iced Tea.
"They have two more weeks to go on this tour and then
he has three weeks off I believe. Then we head back over to Europe for two
months. Then right after the European tour, we're getting married and then it
will just be a few weeks before I'm due." Christy said.
"You're cutting it close don't you think?" Doris
asked.
"Maybe, but it's the way Kev and I have worked it
out." Christy said.
"Just as long as you're happy dear." Doris said.
"I am happy Doris. Kevin and I have never been
closer." Christy said.
"And I assume the pregnancy is going well?" Doris
asked.
"Yes it is. It was pretty exciting last week when we
felt the baby move for the first time." Christy said.
"I bet it was." Doris said.
Christy found herself very tired that day, so she decided
to head home around 6:30. She made it back to Kevin's place by 7 and felt the
urge to call Kevin. She knew he would be getting ready for the show that night,
but she just wanted to talk to him. She picked up the phone and dialed his cell
phone number. When he didn't pick up, she decided to page him.
Kevin was in make-up when his pager went off. He saw his
home number and immediately he panicked. He went down the hall to a room where
he could have some privacy and he called Christy back right away. As soon as she
answered the phone, he said, "Are you all right? What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong. I just miss you and wanted to hear
your voice." Christy said.
"Oh god Christy. You scared me." Kevin said as he
sat down.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Christy
said.
"Can I call you back in about ten minutes. I need to
get my make-up finished and then we can talk for a little while." Kevin
asked.
"I'll be here." Christy said as she hung up the
phone. God she missed being there with him. She had become so accustomed to
hanging around the venue before a show, that she missed not being there.
