Love With A Price - Chapter 80
"Can we talk for a few minutes before we head to the
venue?" Kevin asked as he nervously sat down on the bed beside Christy.
Brian had pressured Kevin to tell Christy what was going on, or he was going to
do it for him. Kevin was backed into a corner.
"What's up?" Christy asked, not suspecting that
anything was wrong.
"This isn't easy Christy." Kevin said.
"What's wrong Kevin? You're scaring me?" Christy
said.
"I want to postpone the wedding for a while."
Kevin said quickly. He held his breath as he waited for Christy's response.
"Postpone the wedding? Why? I thought we agreed that
we wanted to be married when the baby was born." Christy said.
"I just need time Christy. A lot has happened in the
past year and I don't want to rush into anything." Kevin said.
"Are you seeing someone else?" Christy asked
point blank.
Kevin looked up at Christy in shock. He had to tell her
about Erika, or Brian would. "It's not what you think." Kevin said.
"Yes or no Kevin. Are you seeing someone else?"
Christy demanded an answer.
"She's just a friend." Kevin said as he looked
away from Christy. He couldn't bare to see the pain in her eyes.
"Fuck you Kevin Richardson." Christy said as she
picked up a vase and threw it across the room. It hit the wall and shattered
into hundreds of pieces.
"I'm not saying that I don't want to get married
Christy. I just need some time." Kevin said.
"I'll give you all the time in the fucking world
Kevin. There isn't going to be a wedding at all." Christy said, just as
there was a knock at the door. She flung he door open to find Brian and LeighAnn
standing there.
"Is everything all right?" Brian asked, knowing
full well what was going on.
"Just peachy." Christy said.
"Will you two please leave us alone?" Kevin
asked.
Christy grabbed her purse and said, "I don't want to
be alone with this asshole." Christy said as she pushed past Brian and
LeighAnn.
"Follow her LeighAnn." Brian said as he stepped
into Kevin's room and closed the door.
"I'm glad you at least had the decency to tell her
yourself." Brian said.
"I didn't break up with her or anything. I just told
her I wanted to postpone the wedding. I just need time." Kevin said.
"Did you tell her about the blonde?" Brian asked.
"I didn't have to, she guessed." Kevin said.
"I hope you're happy Kevin. You just ruined the best
thing that ever happened to you." Brian said.
"No I'm not happy Brian. I'm fucked up ok. I don't
know what is wrong with me. Maybe it's just cold feet. I have feelings too ya
know. But no one seems to be worried about me." Kevin said.
"There are other ways to handle fear Kevin. This is
not the right way." Brian said.
"I don't know how else to handle it." Kevin said,
as there was a knock on the door.
Brian answered the door to find Tom and Carlos waiting for
both Kevin and Brian. "Come on guys, you have to get to the venue."
Tom said.
Kevin grabbed his bag and walked out of the room. "Are
you coming Brian?" Tom asked.
"I need to go find Christy first, since Kevin doesn't
give a shit if she's all right." Brian said.
"You don't need to drag everyone into this
Brian." Kevin said.
"You should have thought about that before you broke
Christy's heart." Brian said as he pushed past Carlos and Kevin. Tom
followed behind him quickly. Brian was hoping that LeighAnn had stopped Christy
in enough time and taken her down to their room. Just as he entered the room and
cursed under his breath when the room was empty, his cell phone rang. He looked
at the display and quickly answered it when he saw LeighAnn's number. "Is
she with you?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, we're in the stairwell, at the 12th
floor. I need you down here though Brian. I've already called an ambulance.
Christy slipped down a few stairs and now she's complaining of cramps."
LeighAnn said frantically.
"We're on our way." Brian said as he flew out of
the room. Tom wasn't sure what was going on, he just followed behind Brian. When
Brian came face to face with Kevin who was waiting for an elevator, he said,
"If you care for Christy and the baby at all, you'll come with me
now."
"I don't think she wants to have anything to do with
me." Kevin said.
"She fell down the stairs Kevin, and all I know is
LeighAnn has called for an ambulance. The next move is up to you Kevin."
Brian said as he walked towards the stairs.
Kevin felt his heart sink as what Brian said sunk in. No
matter how confused he was, he still loved Christy and the baby. He never wanted
anything to happen to either one of them. Kevin quickly ran after Brian and took
the steps two at a time. He wanted to scoop Christy into his arms and tell her
that everything was going to be all right. But he just stood there and watched
as Brian and LeighAnn sat by her side. After what he did, it almost felt like he
didn't belong there. He sat down on one of the steps and started to cry.
Brian looked up at a crying Kevin. Even though this was
Kevin's fault, he still felt sorry for his cousin. He hoped this was enough to
wake Kevin up and make him realize how special Christy was. A few seconds later,
a door opened and the paramedics rushed to Christy's side. Brian and LeighAnn
stood up and got out of their way. They carefully lifted Christy onto a gurney
and secured her. "Who's the father?" the paramedic asked?
The three were silent, until Brian pushed Kevin forward.
"If you ever want her back, you'll go with her." Brian said.
Kevin quietly accompanied Christy to the hospital. She
wouldn't say anything to him, but she still grabbed his hand as the pains ripped
through her abdomen. Kevin held on for dear life, afraid that he had lost the
two most important people in his life.
Brian and LeighAnn made their way back up to their hotel
room. "How come I have the feeling you know more about what happened than
you're letting on?" LeighAnn asked.
"Cause I do." Brian said.
"Care to enlighten me?" LeighAnn asked.
"Not really. After what just happened, I'm hoping it won't be important anymore." Brian said.
