Chapter 4
Kevin and Althea spent the next day sleeping. They planned
on going to an underground club that night, so they needed their rest.
Kevin was awoken suddenly when he heard a scream. He knew
that scream from anywhere. Kevin shook Althea awake and said, "We need to
get to Nick. He's in trouble." Kevin said as he jumped out of bed and
quickly got dressed.
"I can feel his fear Kevin." Althea said.
"We have to get to him quick Althea. He's been
depressed a lot lately and I'm worried about his state. He needed more time than
this to regain some strength." Kevin said.
"Can you figure out where he is?" Althea asked,
trying to pinpoint a location.
"He's at his place. We have to get there quick."
Kevin said as he ran from the bedroom. Althea was not far behind him.
Althea threw Kevin the keys to her car. She knew he was
capable of getting them there faster than she could. "Hurry Kevin, he's
fading quick." Althea said.
"Do you think Thora was waiting for Nick to come back
to make her move?" Kevin said.
"This has Thora written all over it." Althea
said.
*************
"Thora, please! You can't do this." Nick pleaded
as she had struggled to get Nick into the van.
"That's where you're wrong Nick. I can do this and I
will do this." Thora hissed as she continued to struggle with Nick. 'Dammit,
he's gotten a lot stronger. Come on Thora. Concentrate. You have to get him into
the van.' Thora said to herself. Nick went to open his mouth and Thora said,
"Fuck Kevin! He's not going to win this time. I brought you into this
world, and you will be mine Nick!"
Nick knew he couldn't keep up this fight much longer.
'Kevin, please save me! She's got me." Nick was only able to say once
before Thora was able to block him from sending out telepathic messages.
"He'll never find you now." Thora said as she laughed.
"You are no match for Kevin." Nick screamed.
*************
"Shit, he's not here anymore." Kevin said as they
both stood in the living room.
"What was the last thing you heard him say?"
Althea asked.
"She has him. That's all he was able to say before she
cut him off. She's not very strong though. I can still feel his fear."
Kevin said.
"If she's as weak as people are saying she is, she
won't be able to keep this up for very long." Althea said.
"Where's Halther?" Kevin asked.
"Kevin, you can't be thinking about going to him? He
could kill both of us." Althea said. Halther was the oldest vampire that
anyone knew about. He was a lot more violent than most of the psychic vampires
and could easily kill both Kevin and Althea.
"But we both share a hatred for Thora. The three of us
can take her down." Kevin said.
"The last I heard, he was in Australia." Althea
said.
"Someone at the club must have a way to contact him.
It's our only chance at getting Nick back." Kevin said.
"I don't know Kevin." Althea said, uneasy about
seeing Halther again. She never told anyone about her relationship with him.
They had once been partners much like Kevin and her were. But Althea fled from
him once the sex started to become violent. She wasn't sure what his reaction
would be if he saw her again.
"What aren't you telling me Althea?" Kevin said.
"Nothing." Althea said, knowing it was a lost
cause. Kevin knew that she was not telling him the truth.
"Dammit Althea! This is Nick we're talking about. I
CANNOT let anything happen to him, do you hear me? If you know something that
can help us, you better spill." Kevin yelled. He was loosing his patience
with this whole situation.
"We used to be lovers." Althea said quietly.
"That could work to our advantage then right?"
Kevin asked.
"I'm not sure. It didn't end on good terms."
Althea replied.
"You have more of a history with him than I do. I
can't do this without you Althea. We're going to the club to try and get in
touch with him." Kevin said as he grabbed Althea's arm and dragged her out
of the house. "You're gonna have to put your fear aside Althea. You know
he'll eat you alive if he senses that you're afraid." Kevin said.
"I'll try my best Kevin." Althea said as she sunk into the passenger seat of the car.
