Chapter 6
They must have been on the road for about four hours and
even though Thora had blind folded him, she was loosing strength quickly and
Nick was able to determine that they were in a wood cabin somewhere. He just
wished he knew which direction they had been driving in. Thora had thrown Nick
in a corner. He was now able to pick up on Thora's fear. 'She's a lot weaker
than I thought.' Nick said to himself.
"Shut-up over there Carter. If you think you can take
me down, you are wrong!" Thora yelled.
"You're getting weak Thora. Admit it. I can sense your
fear. Soon I'll be able to read your mind. And soon after that you won't be able
to block my thoughts." Nick taunted Thora.
"I told you to shut the fuck up!" Thora hissed.
"I forgot how foul your mouth was." Nick
continued to taunt her. He wanted to bring her senses down long enough to at
least get a message out to Kevin.
"You ain't heard nothing yet." Thora said.
"Try me." Nick said.
Nick could hear Thora moving around the room, but he wasn't
getting a response out of her. "This should shut you up." Thora said
as she put a piece of tape over Nick's mouth. For the next hour, Nick worked to
silence all the thoughts in his heads and simulate a dream state. It took a lot
of strength to pull it off, but he wanted to let Thora believe that he was
asleep, in hopes that she would let herself slip into sleep.
Another hour passed and Nick took the chance to try and get
through to Kevin. 'Kevin? Can you hear me? If you can, I'm still alive. We're in
a wood cabin, I'm not sure where. She's loosing strength fast,' was all Nick
said. He didn't want to push his luck. He finally let himself drift off to
sleep. If he was going to have a chance of beating Thora, he would have to get
some sleep as well and save some of his strength.

"Did you hear that?" Kevin asked.
"Hear what?" Althea said.
"It was Nick! He's still alive. They're in a wood
cabin somewhere and she's already pretty weak, especially if Nick was able to
get that message out to me." Kevin said.
"Do you think she cut him off?" Althea asked.
"No. Nick isn't as afraid as he was just a few hours
ago." Kevin said.
"Yeah I can sense that as well. Let's keep asking
around though. I'm sure someone knows where this cabin is. Thora has enough
enemies that I'm sure we can find someone that will talk." Althea said.
For the next couple of hours Kevin and Althea split up in
the club and touched base with some old friends. By 5am, neither of them had
made much progress. They hadn't heard from Halther throughout the night either,
so that meant he hadn't learnt anything significant either.
"Find anything out?" Halther asked when they all
met in the same room again.
"Nick was able to get through to me once. They're in a
log cabin somewhere." Kevin said.
"I spoke to someone that saw Thora's white van about
two hours north of here. We at least have some idea what direction they headed
in." Halther said.
"The cabin is probably about four or five hours from
here. They were at the cabin when Nick got through to me." Kevin said.
"Let's go call Greath from the state police. Maybe he
can help us locate cabins four or five hours from Orlando." Halther said.
"You know where you're going. You can drive." Kevin said as he handed Halther the keys.
