Chapter 7
When Nick woke up, it was light outside. He couldn’t see
Thora, but he could sense that she was awake. He could also tell that she had
gained additional strength while she was sleeping.
“Morning pet. How are you feeling this morning?” Thora
said cheerfully as she entered the room.
“I’d be better if you untied me.” Nick said.
Thora walked in Nick’s direction and straddled his lap.
“Now you know I can’t do that just yet. How do I know I can trust you?”
Thora said.
“Could you at least let me up so I could use the
washroom?” Nick asked.
“You better not try anything Carter.” Thora said as she
reluctantly untied Nick.
“Oh come on. Read my mind Thora. Do I plan on trying
anything?” Nick said. Nick was using a power that he had never even thought of
using before. Not only was he blocking Thora from reading his mind, but also he
was altering Thora’s perception of what he was thinking. Because of her
weakened state, Nick was able to make Thora believe that she really was reading
his mind. In fact, he was leading her to believe that he was having sexual
feelings towards her. From what Nick could tell, Thora didn’t suspect a thing.
While Nick was in the washroom, he looked out the window
and all he could see was trees. He couldn’t see anything that would give away
their location. “You don’t mind if I take a shower do you?” Nick asked as
he peaked his head out of the bathroom.
“Don’t be long. Breakfast will be ready in about ten
minutes.” Thora replied.
Ten minutes was all Nick needed. He turned the shower on
and let the warm water cascade down his body. He tried to loosen his tense
muscles. While he was washing, he called out to Kevin telepathically.

Kevin was barely awake as they sat in the small police
station. That was until he heard Nick calling to him. Both Althea and Halther
sensed something and looked at Kevin for answers. “Give me a few minutes.”
Kevin said. ‘Are you ok Nick?’ Kevin asked.
‘Yeah, I’m ok Kevin. Where are you?’ Nick asked.
‘We’re here with Greath. Remember him? We spoke to
someone that saw Thora’s van about two hours north of Orlando last night. So
we’re trying to locate possible cabins. Do you have any idea how far you drove
last night?’ Kevin said.
‘About four hours is my best guess.’ Nick replied.
‘Ok, I think that will help us out. Where is Thora?’
Kevin asked.
‘She’s making breakfast. I told myself I would never
use the power, but I’m altering her perception. Right now she thinks I’m
sexually attracted to her.’ Nick said.
‘I see I’ve taught you well. How long do you think you
can keep it up for?’ Kevin asked.
‘I’m still feeling strong and she’s weakening as we
speak. I don’t think I’ll have any problems keeping this up for a while.’
Nick replied.
‘Try and get further into her mind and find out where you
are Nick. It will take a lot of strength on your part, but it will help us find
you faster.’ Kevin said.
‘I’ll try that after breakfast. I’ll contact you
later. She’s gonna be checking on me any minute now, so I better get going.’
Nick said.
‘I’m proud of you Nick. Keep this going for just a
little longer. We’ll get you out of this.’ Kevin assured Nick.
‘Kevin, why is Halther helping you find me? It’s no
secret that he doesn’t like you.’ Nick inquired.
‘Cause he wants to nail Thora. He has his own motives.’
Kevin explained.
‘Is Althea there with you?’ Nick asked.
‘Yes she is. We’re gonna get you out of this.’ Kevin
said.
‘I trust you Kevin.’ Nick said just before he broke all
contact.
“Did you guys catch all of that?” Kevin asked Althea
and Halther.
“He’s a smart kid.” Halther admitted.
“Yeah, he is isn’t he?” Kevin said with pride.
