Chapter 9
Fortunately rush hour traffic for the most part was over,
so Kevin made it out of Orlando quickly. They made it to the cabin in just over
three hours. They parked a distance from the cabin and walked the remainder of
the way. It was confirmed instantly that they were at the right place when they
saw Thora’s van.
“So what’s the plan? Do you want to let Nick know that
we’re here and have him distract Thora in some way?” Althea asked.
Kevin looked at Halther and he nodded. Kevin tried to open
a connection with Nick and he became worried when Nick didn’t respond right
away. Finally a few minutes later, Nick responded. ‘I only have a minute. Are
you guys here all ready?’ Nick asked.
‘Yeah we’re ready when you are. Can you distract Thora
for a few minutes?’ Kevin asked.
‘Give me a little more time. I don’t want to get into
how I got the information on where the cabin was located, but I woke Thora up to
come to the washroom. I’ll let you know when to make you’re move as soon as
she is asleep again.’ Nick said.
‘We’ll wait for your word.’ Kevin said.
***************
Nick got into bed with Thora and took her in his arms.
“Sorry I woke you.” Nick whispered as he kissed the top of Thora’s head.
“That’s ok. I’m better now that you’re back.”
Thora said, as she got comfortable and rested her head on Nick’s chest.
Nick gave the impression that he had fallen asleep as well,
but he was simply just waiting for Thora to enter a sleep state again.
Fortunately it only took about ten minutes. ‘How do you want to do this?’
Nick asked Kevin.
‘What is the easiest way for us to get in?’ Kevin
asked.
‘I unlocked the front door before I got back into bed.’
Nick replied.
‘Ok. We’re on our way in. I think Halther would like to
give her a real good wake up. So we’ll let him take the lead.’ Kevin said.
‘I can’t wait.’ Nick said.
A few minutes later, Kevin, Althea and Halther were all
standing in the bedroom. Thora sat straight up suddenly and screamed. Then she
looked around and the room and became terrified as four people surrounded her.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Halther said.
“It’s not what it looks like.” Thora said.
“Don’t waste your breath Thora. You know you’re
bullshit act won’t work on us.” Halther said.
“Don’t kill me.” Thora pleaded.
“Oh we’re gonna make sure you have a slow painful
death.” Althea hissed.
“You wouldn’t.” Thora screamed.
Nick looked at Kevin with a questioning look on his face.
“What are they talking about?” Nick asked.
“They’re gonna take me out of this world.” Thora
said.
“By killing her right?” Nick asked.
“We’re going to make it so she’s human again. But
trust us, it is a suitable punishment.” Kevin answered reluctantly. The fact
that no one had told him that this could be done would upset Nick.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Nick reacted exactly how
Kevin had predicted.
“Because it is the most painful way to kill a vampire
Nick. We will take away all her psychic powers and leave her with the same needs
and desires. She won’t be able to get what she needs to survive, so she will
die a slow and painful death. It is only used as a form of punishment Nick.”
Kevin explained.
“You might want to go into the other room Nick. I don’t
think you want to see this.” Althea said sympathetically.
“You’re right. I don’t want to know how this is
done.” Nick said as he left the bedroom.
Kevin flashed Nick a sympathetic look as he left the room.
He knew that Nick was upset that this information had been kept from him.
Nick decided to sit out on the front porch. He didn’t want to hear what was going on in the bedroom. He wanted to be angry with Kevin for not telling him about this, yet he knew that Kevin was telling him the truth now. He would ask Kevin more questions about it later.
