Al Tehler guested blues outfit Blue Light in a TV special recorded in front of an audience on Oct. 16 '98 at "Studion" in Stockholm. To be aired in spring '99 by TV1 or TV2. | |
| Busy gents:
Lars Mellqvist is often found as one of And Stefan Sandberg is a common figure on the Göteborg jazz & blues circuit: not only as a brilliant reedman but also as a talented Strat (!) wielder with keyboardist/vocalist Bengt Bygren's outfits. Previous vocalist Thomas Carlsson can be seen & heard as a solo act or gigging with Blues From The Roots. Perhaps on a Tuesday at funky "Sjöbaren" in Haga, Göteborg. |
Footnotes: The Scandinavian Blue Horns joined the legendary Ike Turner's band on his July '98 European Tour. Together with Al Tehler the horn men already played with fabled U.S./U.K. guitarist Otis Grand on his Spring '98 tour of Norway and Sweden. And speaking of Mr. Grand: At the 1997 Mönsterås Blues Festival I caught Al Tehler's blues band performing in two roles: as an act on their own and as backup band to said Mr. Grand. My ears might have become a bit jaded after all these years, but in my opinion the starring American overplayed heavily, making Al Tehler's Fender sound beautifully cool in contrast. 'Nuff said! says Christer. |
