Games in My Arcade

The first game in my arcade is a Ms. Pac Man. Like all other kids growing up in the 80s I played arcade games. Like all other kids in the 80s I thought it would be COOL to have one at home. I happened to run across a site on the Internet that talked about buying these games at auctions. After more investigation, I decided to go to my first auction in Columbus, Ohio. I didn't buy anything that day, but I was definitely hooked. I made plans to go again. My wife and I agreed on Pac Man as one of the classics that should be in our Arcade. So my focus was on these on my next trip to Columbus. The Pac Man games were a little worn, so I settled for the Ms. Pac that now resides in our Arcade.

Now that I had the bug, I began to look other places for games. I feel that my next purchase was one of my best bargains. I was looking in the Yahoo classified section and found someone in North Carolina selling an Asteroids Deluxe Cocktail and Return of the Jedi for $200. The Jedi was not working, but the Asteroids was "working". My buddy and I drove down to NC for a long weekend of golf and picking up the games. I managed to talk the price down to $175 for both. The story of the Return of the Jedi repair can be found In the Shop. Being a huge Star Wars fan, I was thrilled to get my Jedi working and now it is my favorite game.

The Rally-X came into the collection via another trip to Columbus. I wanted to try selling a game at the auction to see how everything worked. The Asteroids Deluxe Cocktail that I bought as "working" ended up not working, and I didn’t really want to look into fixing it, so it was elected as the trial game to sell. Plus since table games are among the first to be sold, I would know how much money I had to spend. The Asteroids sold for $200 and I bought the Rally-X. It is a real nice looking game. The cabinet is very clean and has all the side art intact on both sides and front. Monitor is real clear with not a lot of burn. Game play in real good as well.

The Space Invaders Deluxe came my way by searching through my local newspaper. I purchased this game not working for $100. I was fairly certain I could get this game working again because it would power up and you could hear game sounds. Looking in the machine I noticed a wire was disconnected from the monitor. This hopefully will prove to be the problem with the game. For more info on the progress of the repairs on this game look In the Shop.
Highest score is not possible game under repair
