Steen was born on 7 of December in Copenhagen, in manager's family, so his future seems no less than finance minister of Denmark :-). In the beginning Steen goes to school at Copenhagen, but by the age of eleven his parents decide to move outside of big and noisy town, and move to "little prairie house" near Roskilde (from industrial Copenhagen to thunderous drumming of Allan Sorensen...), so rest of his young years Steen spend far away from all dangers of big city, alone with his many cats...
First time Steen thinks about music when he was eight years old and buy record of rock band "Geordye". Steen's older brother John playing in Danish band at that time, and after seeing John on stage Steen was very exited, and decide to someday perform on stage too... Soon he buy bass-guitar (from his brother for 500 Danish crones :-) and starts practicing....
At the age of seventeen Mogensen attend himself to technical school, and after it was accepted by "Ford" garage. In repairing and learning "Ford" cars he spend three years (so, if you have a "Ford" and its refusing to work - try to find Steen ;-), but by the age of twenty-one must comes time for army duty, and Mogensen spend all army time repairing wooden ships. Some Chinese wisemen says that genius man must be talented from all sides, that's said for Steen correctly!
Steen meets Andre in one of Copenhagen studios, when he searchin' for good musicians for "Royal Hunt". Andersen shows him demo tape, and Steen agrees to try out. Soon they jammed together, building bright future of RH. Now Steen is the spinal cord of the band and many years of mutual work brought Andre and Steen really close together. He is the true power behind the bass and the band, and his inspiration and extreme articulation provides a perfect example of an excellent friend and a band member.
P.S. After four years in "Royal Hunt" Steen Mogensen starts to write his own songs. First of them, "Final Lullaby" was placed to RH single "Message to God" and highly appreciated by music critics all around the world. Remember what I say about Chinese wisemen? :-)
P.P.S. But that wasn't the end! Later in 1998 Steen joined forces with Henrik Brockmann and together they record Steen's own solo album! From a auto-mechanic and carpenter to the full-scale rock musician. Isn't it a hand of Destiny?...
