The "Tribute" Concert World Tour began at the Taj Mahal in India, and proceeded to the Forbidden City in China during March of 1997. Both of these events were landmarks in music history, as Yanni and Company are the first western artists to perform at these historical treasures. In addition, it was the first time in 500 years the Taj Mahal had been lit at night. What an incredible sight! For more information, sound and video clips, I encourage you to visit the Official Yanni Website. For me, the Seattle concert was my first Yanni experience. I don't refer to it as a concert anymore, because seeing Yanni and Company live, truly is an experience. He has successfully assembled some of the finest musicians from around the world to perform his music. Artists like Armen Anassian (conductor and violin), Karen Briggs(violin) and Pedro Eustache (woodwinds, saxophones & doodook). These people skillfully bring to life the emotion and passion within Yanni's music. At times you can almost feel the sultry heat of India, when listening to the music. Or if you are in the mood for a Mediterrean feeling, then you might allow your mind drift to the warm inviting shores of Greece. Yanni captures and presents the spirits of these places, with grace and elegance. Yanni himself is a delight to watch. He is the music, and the music is him. My photos of that night in Seattle, are windows to my memories. I hope I was able to capture some of his passion, some of his emotion, and his love for the music.
