WHO ARE WE?

The "Gruppo d'Ascolto Due Mari" (GADM) is a non profit association of short wave radio listeners and DXers in the city of Taranto (South-East of Italy). It was founded on August 25, 1986, by three active DXers: Antonello Napolitano, Carlo Pepe and Riccardo Tritto.
The first important decision taken by the club was to join the CO.RAD., an umbrella organization of several DX clubs of Italy. This occured in 1987. Today, the GADM is not affiliated with any other organization.
From its start in 1986 to the present, GADM has led a hard life. During the first years of our existence we cooperated with other clubs, produced brief reports for Italian DX programmes of Deutsche Welle and AWR Europe, had close ties with Marconi Radio International and edited, on an irregular basis, a short wave bulletin called "DX Fanzine". In 1997 a website was started but unfortunately it was short-lived.
As from 1st January 1999, DX Fanzine no longer exists as a print magazine. That has been replaced by an electronic version which contains, among other things, very hot DX tips. Its editorial mission is in fact to tell which stations may be heard on the various bands at the moment. That decision was based on two factors.
Today, with the explosion of Internet, there is no medium that can deliver DX news from a corner of the world to another, so rapidly and economically as the electronic mail. The other factor is the elimination of a number of activities such as printing and mailing which take us up a great deal of time.

DX FANZINE

Formally, DX Fanzine is a monthly short wave bulletin, distributed via the World Wide Web. In reality it is a work-in-progress bulletin updated daily or to be more exact as soon as we receive logs from any contributor. This means that, for example, the January edition is already available on the 2nd January. Of course the final version of that edition will be ready only on 1st February. By starting this electronic DX bulletin we have come a step closer to achieving the task of informing about which stations may be heard on the various bands as soon as we can. Our work and our effort will however only be of value if You, the listener, are ready to cooperate with us!

DX Fanzine also includes some of these sections: "INTERNATIONAL DX NEWS" with station schedules and all sorts of broadcasting news; "FREE ADMITTANCE" news about new publications, contests, DX meetings, etc. from broadcasters, publishing companies and other DX clubs; "REPLAY" the best features extracted from other bulletins as well as DX programmes; "QSL IMPORT/EXPORT" news on successfull reception reports; "BEHIND THE MICROPHONES" articles on domestic and international broadcasters; "ITALIAN AIRWAVES" news and extensive reports on the ever changing Italian radio scene. "D-XTREME" news and articles about hard-to-hear radio stations; "DEE EX PISTOLS" reports on pirate and clandestine stations.
