Pirates
Skull & Crossbones (Divider Bar)

Over time I will be adding new random pirate biographies to this page.

'The Buccaneer Was a Picturesque Fellow' by Howard Pyle (Click for full image)The following are biographies of selected pirates / privateers / buccaneers listed alphabetically by their surname. I have generally selected those pirates that were active 'Extorting Tribute from the Citizens' by Howard Pyle (Click for full image)during the pirate heydays of the early 1700's, mainly because that is when the most well known pirates operated and therefore most publications document them.

I wrote these biographies using the collected books credited on the sources page, so for more specific details I highly suggest those books. In some cases, dates and specific occurances varied from book to book, in which case I generally followed the more authorative book.
