American Bullfrog

Bullfrog on the bank of Town Creek near mouth at Tar River. Males have a yellow throat color whereas the female's is white. Rana catesbeiana

Capenter Bee

Capenter bee gathering pollen and nectar. The females often excavate tunnels in wood with their strong jaws. The males can not sting. Xylocopa virginica

High Cotton

Eastern NC coastal plains cotton field in early fall located on the old Panola Farm Plantation.

Tar River

A wide section of the Tar River. This river flows into the Pamlico Sound at Washington. Most plantations and large farms had a boat landing during the 19th century.
