LUSH are currently recording their first "proper" album with Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie for a probable release in the new year. Previously, Lush have only released a compilation album comprising their two EPs, "Scar" and "Sweetness And Light". Guthrie has just finished work on Ian McCulloch's new LP, and the Cocteaus are label shopping.

LUSH in London shows shock.
Lush finally emerge from the studio where they've been recording a new EP and album to play shows in October. The gigs will coincide with the release of a four-track Robin Guthrie produced EP. The gigs are in all four corners of London and will have a different musical slant and different special guests each evening. Lush will be previewing some of the material from their new album which they are currently recording in Twickenham. Venues for the North, South, East and West shows are Imperial College on October 9, Polytechnic Of North London Rocket (10), Queen Mary & Westfield College (11) and New Cross Venue (12). The shows are their first this year.

LUSH DISINTEGRATE!
Top 'Scene That Celebrates Itself' group blown to smithereens as bassist Steve declares, "I Am Lush!"
Lush, prominent members of the circle of groups known as "The Scene That Celebrates Itself"" were in no mood for celebration last week at the shock news of the departure of their bassist, known simply as "Steve" because no one could remember his surname.
"We're devastated," said Miki, singer with the top "Scene That Celebrates Itself" combo. "This is probably the end of the group as we know it. if Emma or myself had left it probably wouldn't have made much difference. But Steve! The future doesn't bare thinking of!"
When it was pointed out to Emma, founder member of Lush and widely regarded as one of the top songwrites of "The Scene That Celebrates Itself" scene that bassists were normally regarded as replaceable and not absolutely essential to the make-up of a band's sound, she retorted, "Bass players are like snowflakes. No two of them are alike. You'd notice if we replaced Miki in the band with Tad, wouldn't you? Well, you'd notice twice as much if we replaced Steve with some other guy."
It's widely reckoned that Steve will pursue a lucratibe solo career of some sort. Top labels such as Sony, Warners and Phonogram are already fighting too and nail to sign him up. The rest of the band are currently seeking employment as mini-cab drivers.
