BAND BIOGRAPHY

Immortal Soul is a metal band consisting of three members: Jason Goad-guitar and lead vocals, Jonathan Goad-drums, and Jeff Cline-bass guitar and vocals. Immortal Soul was formed in April of 1996 when Cline, a friend of Jonathan since junior high school, began playing bass with the Goad brothers. Jason and Jon had been playing music together since ages 15 and 12, respectively. Cutting their teeth on hard rock bands of the mid to late 80's, the two had developed a taste for metal and progressive rock over the years. Cline's musical tastes had undergone a similar metamorphosis, so the combination of the three members in one band was a perfect combination.

The newly-formed power trio quickly began working on an original brand of metal, fusing their common and individual influences into a distinct musical hybrid. The band immediately took to local and regional clubs, concert halls, community centers, and festivals-performing wherever there was an opportunity to showcase their music.

After amassing a solid collection of original songs, Immortal Soul entered The Source Studios in June of 1997 and recorded a seven-song demo. Since the demo was recorded, the band has written more-than-enough material for a new album and plans to record in their home studio in the near future.

Immortal Soul's music has been described by Sean Clancy of the Daily Citizen Entertainer as "...a lean brand of progressive metal with more crunch than a bag of chips," and "...a bonecrushing weight of sound." Other listeners have drawn comparisons to Metallica, Rush, Iron Maiden, and Dream Theater. The band also cites the Galactic Cowboys, King's X, Skid Row, and Megadeth as influences.

Last Spring, Immortal Soul took part in the Arkansas State University Springfest '99 Battle of the Bands. After flooring the crowd of over 500 with a blistering set of all original material, Immortal Soul was declared the winner of the competition by a five to nothing sweep amongst the judges. Immortal Soul will also celebrate their four-year-anniversary together as a band in April, 2000.

The band's name, Immortal Soul, is in one sense a reference to the band members' faith in God and the afterlife. The name is also an allusion to the idea that music is truly a small piece of the writer's soul. When that piece of music or lyrics is included in a song, it is immortalized in that long after the writer is gone, the song will still remain.
