A fresco of life in a small provincial spa town. A comment on Greek society and the homosexual relationship between two young men, seen through the eyes of one of them. Christos from Athens observes the events and people of the small town, where he comes and goes, both fascinated and repulsed by everything. Manolis, the other young man, a deserter from the army, returns to his family home. This rebellious youth is gradually assimilated into the small-town social environment, where getting rich easily and a crisis of values triumph. Hypocrisy, wretchedness, the commercialization of everything and the absence of intellectual or artistic stimulation complete the impasse. The film traces the outlines of homosexuality, relying on the harshness of the dialogue and its solid script, in order to penetrate into the inner life of its heroes and of the social microcosm in an attempt to discover the authenticity and poetry of everyday life. The film is to some extent by Italian neo-realism, immediacy and narrative force. The film won the City of Turin Award.
