MUSIRI SUBRAMANIA IYER had a vast collection of rare books and manuscripts which he had inherited from his Masters and other luminaries.  These he presented to his senior disciple, Sri T.K. GOVINDA RAO.  This was an inspiration to Sri TKG for this marathon project resulting in the compilation and editing of the complete works of the TRINITY as well as others in the world of Karnatak music.
Based on these authentic collections, referring to various authors, and all the more relying on his own experiences as a vocal musician and authority in the field of Karnatak music who has not lost sight of his Master's style of, "... smooth blending of Raga Bhava with the Sahitya Bhava," Sri TKG is able to capture and incorporate almost all of the so far developed Prayoga-s in his notations.
The newest edition of "Compositions of Tyagaraja" of 688 compositions (the maximum so far authentically available) in Diacritical Roman and Devanagari scripts, with commentaries for all songs in English, followed by SRGM notations in Roman script, released during the centenary year 1999, is a special MUSIRI BIRTH CENTENARY COMMEMORATIVE EDITION and is dedicated to Sri TKG's Guru, Sri Musiri Subramania Iyer.  It is a most precious resource which will definitely be a useful reference guide for the present and future generations, both for teachers and the taught.
