Celine
Dion was
born on Mar 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec (Canada), to Therese and Adhemar
Dion. As the youngest of fourteen children, Celine was the "baby
of the family"….and always surrounded with lots of love and attention.
Since everyone in Celine’s family sang, played an instrument and dreamt
of being a star, it’s no wonder that Celine so naturally embraced music
and singing. Members of her family used to put a five-year-old Celine on
the kitchen table to sing with a "pretend microphone". That was to be just
the beginning of Celine Dion’s passion for singing, including her journey
towards fulfilling her dreams.
When Celine was 12 years old, her brother sent a demo tape of her singing, "Ce N’etait Qu’un Reve"(lyric’s written by her mother), to the well-known Canadian manager, Rene Angelil. When Celine sang for Mr. Angelil, her very special voice brought him to tears. Since that day, Rene Angelil has been her manager and the very astute guiding force in Celine Dion’s singing career.
Another
dream was fulfilled for Celine Dion, on December 17, 1994, when she married
Rene Angelil…making him her husband and manager.
Celine
is quoted as saying, "I trust Rene completely. We laugh and cry together.
He has a big heart and he's so gentle. He's the greatest person."
In Canada, as well as France, Celine Dion was a popular singer since she was a teenager. Dion's polished, very soulful voice didn't appear in the United States until 1990, (when she released "Unison"-recorded in English). But, after that , there was no stopping the hits; from "Where Does My Heart Beat Now"...to the theme to "Beauty and the Beast", Celine Dion has been firmly positioned on the American pop charts since 1992. Then, when "The Colour Of My Love" Album was released, the song "The Power Of Love" sky-rocketed to number one on the charts…winning Celine Dion not only numerous awards, but even more worldwide recognition.
In 1995, Celine’s French sung release of "D’eux"(written by J.J. Goldman) was an overwhelming success with 6,500,000 in worldwide sales. With the poetically, subdued songs of "D’eux", Celine’s voice finally won over the heart’s and "album sales" of …France, UK, including a good part of Europe and the rest of the world.
In 1996, Celine Dion enjoyed her biggest hit to date with "Because You Loved Me," the theme from the film "Up Close & Personal." The song became the biggest adult contemporary hit of all-time and propelled Celine's, "Falling Into You", into the pop top-ten and multi-platinum status, while also winning her numerous awards worldwide.
In 1997, Celine released her album, "Let’s Talk About Love", which included the artistry work of some of the biggest names in the music business, such as; Barbra Streisand, Sir George Martin, Carole King, Pavarotti and The Bee Gees. "Let’s Talk About Love" went to the top of the charts…maintaining a steady course of sales, which now includes over 30 million albums worldwide.
In addition, Celine sang the soundtrack love song from the movie "Titanic"…"My Heart Will Go On"…with an overwhelmingly, positive reaction from movie-goer’s, fans and the general public…alike. It was definitely another chart-topping success for Celine to add to her ongoing successes and "dream-list".
In recent years, Celine has released two more French albums and a hit Christmas Album, "These Are Special Times"(in 1998), along with continuing her hectic concert tour schedule.
Even more recently(1999), Celine has released her last album, "All The Way: A Decade Of Song, before she begins her well-deserved, extended career break, beginning in January, 2000. Celine wants to spend time with her husband-manager, Rene, who has just recently completed successful treatment for cancer. She also wishes to start a family, along with living a more quiet, normal life...away from show business for a while.
When Celine was young, she dreamt of being an "International singing superstar". Well, Celine is certainly living proof that dreams do come true. She is the number one "Pop Diva" of this generation and of the millennium(to her fans). So, along with all her music hits, "no star has been unreachable" for Celine!
The
long "dreaming journey" continues….onward and upward…for Celine Dion, while
she continues to fulfill all the dreams of her heart.

On Jan. 25, 2001, in Florida, Celine Dion (and her husband, Rene) fulfilled
one of their greatest dreams when their son, "Rene-Charles"
(weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces) was born.
On March
25, 2003, Celine Dion begins 3 years of special, live concerts at the Caesars
Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas.
