The Gift
A gift is free if you're the one
That it is given to.
Someone else has paid the price;
Someone else, not you.
A gift is usually from someone
Who loves you very much;
A reassuring compliment,
A warm and friendly touch.
The gift that I've been thinking of
Comes fresh and new each day;
A brand-new heart, a brand-new life,
A hand to lead the way.
The price was paid so long ago;
The cost was very high:
Jesus came and suffered pain,
For my sins to die.
But Glory! Jesus rose again!
He rose to set me free!
The gift was paid for at the cross,
My life's eternal - FREE!
Salvation is not just a one-time gift. The Holy Spirit is constantly showing us the pleasures of fellowship with God. And we have the assurance that nothing and no one can take us out of His hand!
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8
