Great performance and a good audience recording. This bootleg is good;sound and everything. This show was played for about 30,000 people, which was probably the smallest venue of there PopMart tour. Bono is verytalkative; describing Eugene like Dublin "warm people, rockin' town, shit weather." What is really interesting is what the inlay says.Apparently Autzen Stadium is an open roofed venue on a valley where the sound extends out past the stadium. The main speakers were positioned above the stage, so U2's concert reached out into the quiet community of 140,000. Apparently, the media was all over this the next day, talking about noise ordinances and fines. The cover features some of the complaints, hence the title. This bootleg is a CDR, and the only minus is that the cover art and back seem to be printed of a color ink jet printer there are no pictures of the band. The cover features no photos, but does include an article from the local paper, and the liner notes has a summary of the concert. Not that bad, but could stand some improvement. I do not know about the availability of this one. I have come to theorize that this boot, VEGAS STYLE and LIVE AT THE GREAT FESTIVALS OF THE '80'S, are all produced by the same person because the cover art and graphics are all similar. All seem to be printed off a ink jet printer, and I bought them all at the same store. Does any one know? After buying VEGAS STYLE, I found this a much better listen. The recording is better, not great, but very listenable. The CD-R is indexed better than VEGAS STYLE as well. The show opens with a remix of M's "Pop Muzik," and then the band kicks into "Mofo" and a bass-heavy "I Will Follow." The band seems a bit more comfortable with the new materia here. "Last Night On Earth" gets my vote as U2's best new song. Another karaoke rendition of "Daydream Believer" by the Edge. "Please" ends with the drum rolls for "Sunday Bloody Sunday" with The Edge joining in with the guitar riff. Bono sings the first lines but abandons it and improvises a few lines. The encore is without "If You Wear That Velvet Dress." not that it is missed - they didn't play it on this date. A solid show. Don't pass it up (if it is cheap). This is the original pressing on this label. (concert review of ROCK 'N' ROLL AIN'T NOISE POLLUTION) |
