"Oh man! Practice was tough!" Lee said as he collapsed on the locker room floor. "Sure was! I hope we get into the finals!" Jimmy said, joining Lee on the floor. "Sure we will..." Spike said "with our super star athlete, Lee Brennan, how can we lose?!?" "Yeah right!" Lee said sarcastically. "Aaaaawww! C'mon Lee! Don't be so humble, the whole world knows that you are the best player in the league!" "Yeah!" their other team mates agreed. The lads got into the shower and changed their clothes. "Hey, do you guys wanna go to Mr. Smith's, my treat!" Spike asked. "Nah! C'mon Spike, you know we gotta game tomorrow! We gotta rest if we wanna be the champs!" Jimmy replied. "Yeah, okay." Spike said glumly. The lads got into Lee's black BMW and stopped for pizza on the way. Lee parked his car and the lads got off. Spike took their flat's key out of his pocket and opened the door. *Yawn* Jimmy let out. "I'm beat!" Spike said. "Yeah me too! I'm gonna sleep, you guys! Good night!" Lee annonunced as he headed for his room.
*Bbbrrrrinnnnnggg!* Lee's alarm sounded off. Lee got out of bed and headed for the kitchen. Spike was eating breakfast while Jimmy got the newspaper. "Hey, how's our star athlete today?" Spike asked as he shoved a piece of bacon in his mouth. "I had a really good night's sleep! I feel great!" Lee said enthusiastically. Lee joined him at the breakfast table and grabbed some pancakes. "C'mon you guys, we better get going or else we'll be late. Have a quick breakfast and shower and off we go." Jimmy said.
The lads changed into their uniforms and when they came out into the field, lots of people were cheering and held out banners to support their team. The game started and Lee's team had an early lead of 2 goals. 3,4,5,6 Lee just kept on continuing with his winning streak and got 6 goals. Lee was running the ball and was about to kick it when... *Thud* someone tackled Lee. *Uuuummphh!* Lee fell to the ground, hard. "Lee! Lee! Are you okay, man?!?" Jimmy yelled running over. He stooped down and tugged on Lee's uniform. "He's not moving! Get some help!" Jimmy yelled panicking. The crowd grew silent. *Weoweoweow* an ambulance came and brought Lee to the hospital. Jimmy and Spike, still in their uniforms ran out of the stadium. Spike waved at a cab and the two got in. "To the hospital, quick!" Jimmy said.
Jimmy got out his wallet and payed the cab driver. The lads raced into the hospital and asked the nurse at the information desk Lee's room. "Room 27, east wing." replied the nurse. "Thanks!" the lads replied in unison as they ran down the hall. Spike opened the door and peered inside. "Lee! Lee! Wake up, man!" he yelled. "Shhhh! He needs to rest." the doctor hushed to them. He led the lads out of the room and started to talk calmly. "Lee's going to be fine. He's just had a minor injury, that's all. He's got a bruise on his head and a broken ankle though. It's going to take some time to heal but on the other hand, he might not play football again." "What?!?" the guys shouted in unison. "You call that minor!" Spike screamed as he hit his fist on the wall. "But football is Lee's life! He can't not play football!" Jimmy yelled, red with fury. "I'm sorry..." the doctor replied quietly "But it's up to him if he can play again, he has to work hard."
