RETROSPECTIVE: We entered our rehearsal room at Triad Studios on January 17, 1988, to produce a live recording of material slated for our second album effort. Tom Hall engineered the session, and the six of us operated on-the-fly to get it all on tape. We couldn't afford a 1/2" reel, so we recorded direct to cassette. It was a test of our abilities, as well as a reference point for the unfinished arrangements of several songs. Of the 14 songs we recorded that day, 11 of them were salvageable from the original cassette for this album. Five of these tracks have never before been released. Also included on "TRIAD" are Steve Benito's first two studio recordings, made shortly after joining the band as our new vocalist in June,1987. "We, The People" was originally recorded in March of 1987, as a demo with Paul Davidson singing (his version is now a bonus track on the reissue of "Graceful Inheritance"). Randy Nelson was our bassist at the time. This was also our first recording with Mike Jackson in the band. "Keeper Of The Reign" was taken from the original 2" masters of "Graceful Inheritance". We recorded Steve's voice over the original tracks, and remixed the song. We had no idea what we were about to witness. Steve's improvised performance of the song stands alone as a mark of his incredible talent. I'm very happy that the fans of Heir Apparent finally get to hear everything we had to offer from that era. So, here it
is, a moment in time from a band that never got the chance to realize it's
potential. "TRIAD"
