I want to announce a Web project I am pioneering called "HipFaerie," a space for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered youth who have roots in modern hip culture - "queer hippies" as it were. This safe space was created to bring together hip brothers and sisters the world over, to facilitate meeting, communication, and a sharing of ideas and philosophies. HipFaerie is a place in which we can find and explore our commonalities and differences. I began this project to counter some negative effects I have experienced in going to shows, or otherwise participating in modern "hip" culture. I am positive that others have experienced same, and want to help us identify each other, get to know each other, and grow together. Despite the open, warm, friendliness of folks who attend shows (Phish, SCI, Leftover Salmon, the Dead, and many others in the genre), homophobia still runs rampant and leaves many hip, queer kids on the fringe, at the edge of the show-going social circles, and just downright uncomfortable. The purpose of HipFaerie is to bring about a shift in this dynamic toward a positive direction. If you can identify with what I have name "HipFaerie," then please visit the site. It's of course under construction, but better to start somewhere! The URL is http://www.yak.net/shaggy/hipfaerie.html And please keep checking in, because I'm devoting time to this when it can be carved out of my schedule, and when I have the creative inspiration to write. Things will constantly be added; please participate! It will evolve. Thank you for your time, "bandwidth," and interest. Are you interested in a hot new band from Massachusetts? Guster was named Boston's "Best Local Debut Album" in 1995, and nominated for the "Best Local Acoustic Act" and "OUtstanding New Local Rock Act." A year later they were named the "Best Live Act" and this year they recieved nominations for "Rising Star, Album of the Year, Best Live Show, and Oustanding Rock Band." Their new release GoldFly won them an award. Their music can not be purchased in stores, but I have 2 copies of this cd left and they can be yours for less than 10. I will not include S or H either. I enjoy Gusters music and I would like you to be able to experience the magic of them too! Guster has appeared in many shows and they are a mixture of percussion and bongo's with excellent vocals and guitar work. Their music has recently appeared on MTV's RealWorld during several episodes. So if you are interested in the band or getting a cd from a representative like me please email me. Thankyou I really could used to get these last two cd's off my hands so if you are interested in either please let me know, I really appreciate it!! Love always (Pasta!), Kison Anyone in the NY area going to see Salmon at Irving Plaza on April13? ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD24BE.2B51CFD0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "gweston@pacifier.com" To: "sci@netspace.org" , "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: SCI NW Tree Structure (very long) (nlc) Date: Sun, 18 Jan 1998 06:29:31 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Here's the structure for the Stringcheese Incident NW Tree. Please contact me if I have made any mistakes re your name, address... Both shows were taped with Schoeps MK4> kcy> VMS02IB> DA-P1. Here's the setlists and tapelists. There is a big correction on the tapes needed for this tree. DAT tapes are as previously announced: 4x60m or 2x90m. Because these boys like to jam stuff out, there weren't many convenient 45-min flips. This tree will take 1x90min and 3x100 min cassettes. I encourage folks that are getting tapes directly from DAT to use metal (type IV) tapes for a much more dynamic recording. The clones are being mailed to the head of the structure on Wednesday, Jan 21. Here's the setlists (thanks Edmund) and tapeflips for analog folks: 12-26 King Kat Theater, Seattle, WA Set 1 (90 min tape) Set 2 (100 min tape) A) Born On the Wrong Planet A) Little Hands Voodoo Chile Come As You Are Resume Man Elvis Lester Had A Coconut Good Times Rythym Of The Road Rhum 'n' Zouc B) Blue Bossa B) Texas> Bigger Isn't Better Estimated Jam> Smile Texas> Jellyfish> Whiskey Before Breakfast E: Johnny Cash notes: start Set 2 Side A almost as soon as Little Hands starts. Try not to leave very much space on the tapes before this song starts because the tape flip is roughly 50:30 into the set!! 12-27 Aladdin Theater, Portland, OR Set 1 (100 min tape) Set 2 (100 min tape) A) Mauna Bowa> Missing Me> Red Dress> John Hardy> Got What He Wanted Moonflower Road Home On The Road That's What Love Will Make You Do Nardis> Impressions Jam> B) Flood> B) Round The Wheel> Jam> Percussion Jam> Ramblin' Man Jam> Black Clouds E: Big Sciota Walk This Way notes: there's a pretty obvious hint during the jam at the end of Side B Set 2 that let's you know Round The Wheel is starting. Start side B at the first hint of Round The Wheel. ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD24BE.2B51CFD0--
