Here is one from Rikk Van Epps who has been to previous Petaluma NYE shows: Motel 6 on the outskirts of Petaluma. Its not the greatest but its cheap and only 8 minutes to downtown. the number is (707) 765-0333. I am not a fan of motel 6 - but its a cheap place to crash at 3-4 in the morning. The boys played last night in Eugene at The Wild Duck with Jim Page. They said that Jim Page was going to be touring with them for about a month, so look out if you've got shows coming. Last night's show kicked off with the absolute best opener I've ever seen: Rockey Road Blues > Know You Rider > Rocky Road Blues but then seemed to fizzle out from there. Nothing to wild and crazy. I didn't write down a set list, but here's some of what I rememeber in no particular order: Mama Boulet, 420 Polka, Carnival Time, Jokester, Euphoria, Midnight Blues, Better, Going Back to Old Kentucky, This Old Rounder, and a bunch of tunes with Jim Page. The band was tight, don't get me wrong, but after the past three shows, I was hoping for a little crazier setlist. I'll try to get down a setlist tonight, and post it up here tomorrow. Nice little segue fest! 'Rudi, A Message to You' is an old reggae/ska song. I know that Lee 'Scratch' Perry & The Specials have both covered the song. What is this song 'Please Don't Go' ? Not familiar w/ this one. This isn't Led Zep's D'yer Mak'er is it? Seems like it would fit in w/ the reggae feel...can anyone at this show elaborate on what this song was? Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 15:34:22 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hey all, Well, after the long cold winter (yeah right) I'm back in circulation. It's good to be back, but break was cool. I acctually had a REAL job over break. Had to look respectable and everything. Even had a 45-60 min. commute each way. LoS's version of Blister In The Sun started running through my head near the end. But, it was fun and very cool. And I'm really glad I did it. But, now it's back to school and I got a great scheadule for hitting shows. Nothing before noon and my first class on T&Th is 2:30. So, how's everyone doing??? Oh, one more thing before I send this out. I finally bought a new copy of the Tao Of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff (my first copy walked off a couple of years ago) and I got a chance to reread it. For those who have not read this book DO SO!!!! And for those who have, remember, live like Pooh. Another great book to read is Where The Sidewalk Ends. The poem "Hug-o-War" is awsome. All is good in the world ;) matt ps I bought High Lonesome, that documentary on bluegrass someone was talking about here a couple of months ago. Really good movie. Some great pickin' and some cool stories from the likes of Bill Monroe, Marc Weisman, and some other guys I can't remember. The whole first part of the movie (when they are talking about the begining of bluegrass) is like sitting with Bill Monroe and listening to him tell stories, very cool. I got it at Best Buy for about $20. Go and get it. ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD2B54.13EFC5D0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "kahuna@lycosemail.com" To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: I need live music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
