A little international exposure for Salmon! Slalom, Salmon, hmmm..... Another sign that the end of the world is near (Tongue firmly placed in cheek). I was sitting down tonight for a relaxing view of the Olympics, more specifically a little Olympic curling. Well, they were showing women's snowboarding, and there was a special "up close and personal" piece about one of the snowboarders, Sondra Van Ert. She used to be downhill skiier who missed the cut in '84, then she began snowboarding for fun and ended up making the Olympic team. Well, that is all irrelevant to this list, but what IS relevant is that one of the background songs for this dramatic piece was none other than "Highway Song". Our men have moved one step closer to mainstream! This is cause for celebration, me thinks. Hope some other people caught it. My eyes kind of welled up as I heard it. So damn proud. Cheers. BTW, I am pretty bummed that it looks like they will not be appearing at HSMF in July. Say it ain't so. Still waiting to see AptQ245 (is that it?), Salmon-less in Peoria. First off, AJs is safe. So is the center of town. Remember all those nice bridges along 84 heading out of La Honda toward Hwy 1? All gone, 'cept one. The torrent also has all but eliminated the old Ken Kesey cabin along the creek. There's a hugh hole in the side where a tree punched thru, having been carried by the tremendous water flow of Monday night, Feb. 2nd. The folks living there bought it from Ken just last summer. Of course, the footbridge to the cabin is somewhere in the Pacific by now, a mere 10-15 creek miles away.
