Date: Sat, 21 Feb 1998 19:00:42 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hey there all...for those of you who weren't at the Atlanta show last night, I'm sorry!!! A hot show (it was only my third, but have some on tape). The first show I saw was pre-Sipe, and I have to say that Sipe is INCREDIBLE. I was completely inpressed with his and Tye's playing (and of course Drew and Mark!!!-that goes without saying). They are truly five great musicians. Anyway, have to say that the scene at the variety kind of bothered me, just a bit. Maybe I got a bad sampling of the fans, but I seemed to get stuck next to the excessively drunk/high/whatever guys that were falling everywhere and worried only about the substances and not the music (which will move you no matter what your state of mind). I don't mean to have the higher-than-thee attitude (b/c most everyone loves a little green sticky pasta, including myself :) ), but it's the music that truly alters the mind. Anyway, this is a trivial point, since I could be next to anyone and still thoroughly enjoy myself at a show!!! Highlights for me were Gold Hill Line (I LOVE the LHSB CD), Squirrel Heads (Don...:) ), Breaking Through...actually forget it, there were no real low points for me! And the super FUNKY intro to FMF...wow! At first I was kind of hoping to see some more special guests (like Variety last fall craziness), but shortly after the start I changed my mind and wanted to see nothing but the Salmon! The craziness during the encore was crazy (have I used that word yet?). Okay, I think I've rambled enough (I tend to do that, oh well). One last question, Mardi Gras Mambo...whose song is this? I could have sworn I heard it before somewhere (maybe a Taj Mahal CD?). Anyway, wishing I was anyone seeing them again soon. Bryan K. PS-Didn't think I'd go on this long without a shameless tape grovel, did you all? :) Have lots to trade... ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD405D.7843FE20 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Daniel Ritchey To: loslist , loslist Subject: 4/17 Birm. I've been spending this Saturday trying to get some of my tapes labeled, transcribing setlists, and doing tape inventory. I finally got around to writing down the list for one LoS tape, but I need some help with song title/guests/etc. info. Here's what I've got: 12/31/96 Fox Theater, Boulder, CO end of Set 2(?): Nothing But Time, Zombie Jamboree, Gold Hill Line (w/ sax) Set 3(?): Auld Lang Syne, ??Instrumental??, Better, (enter Sally Van Meter) Muddy Water Home, Boogie, River's Risin', Mama Boulet, Breaking Through, Cash On the Barrelhead, ??Live It High Until I Die??, The Thing That the Doctor Ordered I would love to know the following: 1) do I have the correct date/venue/sets listed? 2) the names of the two songs listed with ??'s 3) all guests that sat in and which song they appear on (for set 3 there were accordians, horn players, and I think Sally was there for everything after Muddy Water Home) 4) anything other information you might have about this tape Thanks! Are they supporting someone? Wow! Good question. There're the headline act on the venue's bill on the Pollstar site. Marshall Tucker Band is playing there in June and Pearl Jam (they'll be in Austalia in mid-April) is playing there later in the year. It's not Widepread Panic since they'll be in gay Paree on that date. Maybe they just found a promoter with a HUGE set of... ah.... umm... ah... whatevers! Of course, LOTS of OTHER up and coming bands have played there before -- like Led Zeppelin, AC-DC, KISS, Metallica, and Bush to name a few...
