Whoever that was. I'm most psyched about going to see the new Aggie theater in Ft Collins. People around here are still talking about SCI's show up there opening up the place. Anyway, I am going to post the latest Telluride ticket information for anyone interested. Thanks again to Jeff, for knowing all. Currently, four day passes are on sale for $130. Camping passes for Mill Creek, West Brewery, the Valley Floor and Ilium Valley will go on sale on April 1st. These passes will cost $30 per person, which will cover you for the week. After hearing from others who were at the show and others who have been to other shows on the tour, I have come to the conclusion that maybe Atlanta was the problem and that teh whole "scene" is not this way. Admittedly, this is the first show that I have experienced this sort of behavior to the magnitude I described, so for now I'll attribute it to the fact that the show was in a big city and was an all ages show. I plan to catch at least a couple of more on this tour so I'll make another assessment afterwards. And now: For listening to all of this rhetoric, I will gladly spin the following for the first 3 people to email me: Sam Bush Band 10/4/97 Carolina Theatre Durham, NC The show takes 2 100min tapes and has Tony Furtado as filler (he was the opener). ************************************************************************ **** 0ooo. Granted, it was a rockin' tune, but they ruined the last part of the set for me and i'm sure for some other folks just trying to enjoy the show. these guys were clearly only there to get drunk and jump around and didn't seem to care at all about the music. this is the only time i ever saw anything like that at a LoS show, and i hope it was isolated but judging by what's happened to some of the other tours like phish and wsp i would guess it'll become something we have to deal w/ more and more as the boys get bigger and bigger. thanks for the time -Reid "I'll paint rainbows all over your blues" -John Sebastian ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD43B6.71A0BBB0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "REEDL@ECSUC.CTSTATEU.EDU" To: "LEFTOVER@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: Does the Tapers choice CD come out this Tuesday? The band does bill themselves as Polyethinc Cajun Slamgrass, and I've been slamdancing to them for years...but in a Burt sort of way. My memories of Salmon shows from years back when I was going to every local show around Boulder (what was that, 20-30 shows a year?) ALWAYS involved lots of slamdancing. But it was respectful, gentle, loving slamdancing. Everyone would jump up and down a lot, bounce off each other, spin around, and do it again! We never hurt anyone, as a matter of fact, as soon as someone slipped in a pool of beer and hit the ground, a horde of arms would pull them up again. We were all silly with smiles and having a great time. When it's one or two drunkes assholes going over the line it's one thing, but don't condemn all moshing and slamming in the dance pit, sometimes it's more fun than a Burt on a Stick! -Jeff ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD43B6.71A0BBB0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "Lerdawg@aol.com" To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: "Halloween at the Fox" Tapes Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 13:12:29 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hey all, Thanks to Chris Tweedy I now have a fine sounding DAT copy of the most recent LoS Halloween show, from the historic Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO. Unfortunately, the boys from Nederland couldn't make it that night, so Water Mountain and the Frozen Convulsion Boys were kind enough to play in their absence. Then the Rolling Stones threw down some classic nuggets of rock and roll for the folks that were still standing for the second set. By the time Sun Ra returns from Saturn for a Cosmic Interplanetary Jam, those treats from the pre-show Halloween bash have surely taken effect on the crowd at the Fox. Cheese Frog, Cheese Frog, Cheese Frog! Well, now that I have stoked your flames, please contact me if you are interested in receiving a first generation copy from my DAT - this is an open tape offer to the list which will close when I obtain three interested folks. We were all >silly with smiles and having a great time. Now you've "done" it! You've triggered another of the old man's stories... Back in the "early days (like maybe '91)," when I, too, was asking, "leftover what??", Mark told me about polyennthiccajunslamgrass, and I was asking, "poly what??" Anyway, he tried to tell me about what you just described so well. He went on to say that a girl (I think at the Fox or the BT) had broken her leg doing it at one of their shows. He went on to say that she had gotten her cast on and was back the next night, trying to break the other one at their next show! OTOH, when I attended my first LoS show (in the fall of '92), the crowd was as super a bunch of young folks as I've ever met -- something that's been 99% true ever since. As far as the "new" CD is concerned, I'm in the dark too. I found it in the towerrecords.com database as Hollywood catalog # 162 146 (with the 2/24 release date), but I couldn't find anything about it at CDnow. I tried calling my local Tower Records store and they didn't have it -- however, that doesn't mean it isn't out.
