Also, note that the merchandise number is now toll free and you can use credit cards. I ran across an article on the Web from the August '97 Gavin Report (a trade mag for radio station DJs and PMs) where they do an annual listing of the artists they think will "break" in the coming year in each of their dozen or so categories. Rob Bleetstein (you may remeber he was the Gavin guy who had his picture in the WSJ some time ago wearing his "Team Salmon" t-shirt!) picked Leftover Salmon in the Americana category. Here's that part of the article: --------------------------- AMERICANA: SALMON CHANTED EVENING By ROB BLEETSTEIN This year's Americana entree for breakout is Leftover Salmon, the Boulder, Colorado-based outfit that has taken its style of "bluegrass gone mad" to another level with the release of Euphoria on Mountain Division/Hollywood Records. After years of touring in their school bus, Leftover Salmon's has built a following that continues to grow, and the band is currently part of the H.O.R.D.E. tour, and, in fact, is the only act to perform at every stop, along with headliner Neil Young. Their on-stage party antics and music are a perfect fit for the traveling festival. Americana radio's response to Euphoria has been as euphoric as the rhythms laid down on the disc. Reaction, especially in the Southeast has been over the top, leading to some impressive SoundScan numbers in markets like Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham, and Tampa. Leftover Salmon's popularity is set to spawn. --------------------------- - Bryant ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD8.DF499CA0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: UnitMnstr To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: Species Petition Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 23:52:03 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 98-03-02 19:59:46 EST, you write: << Copy this entire email (from * START * to * END *) into a new email. The Incidents in Jamaica were confirmed today!!! :-} +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ String Cheese Incident will be playing at Alfred's in Negril, Jamaica on May 24th and 25th. These two shows will be in the evening. In true Jamaican style, these shows will be completely FREE! We hope to mix it up with plenty of Jamaican people and to share all of our collective goodness!!! Now that we have dates confirmed, we will begin to search out the best options for travel. Our idea now is to investigate chartering planes from key cities like Atlanta and Houston, for example. We will also find group rates to get folks to these cities. We promise to find the best overall rates, but we need your help. We need to get a realistic idea of how many people will be joining us from various cities. TELL YOUR FRIENDS THAT THE INCIDENTS IN JAMAICA ARE ON!! In the next couple of weeks we've got to organize. We will begin to provide phone numbers for accomodations, but please understand that we are dealing with a completely different culture. The more casual the situation you'd like, (ie. camping) the more likely it will be a "just show up" scenario. There is plenty of space, so don't get worked up. If you want to rent a house or bungalow, we will provide those numbers. Houses rent fairly cheaply, and additional folks can camp in the yards and stuff, but be discreet about mentioning this when making arrangements. If you're truly casual, just show up, and find a rental camping situation. They are up and down the 7-Mile Beach in Negril. The motto is, "Don't Worry" and this is right on target. The more loose and cool you are, the better you will be received in Jamaica. Hotels w/ AC and all are available, but are more expensive. For those of you who can join us, I recommend making it worth your while and stay as long as you realistically can. It is a place that requires some "settling in" in order to get the vibe. If you eat simply, you can live cheaply. I spent three weeks travelling around Jamaica for about $200, and I was not lacking. I camped on the beach in Negril for $10 per night, which as I understand it has inflated to $15. I stayed there for a week to get used to the scene and then took off and cruised all over. It will be the slow season when we are there, so it should be easy to just walk into camping situations, etc. Don't wrap yourself into reservations unless you feel that you must.... Let's just work on figuring how many folks want to commit so that we can get group rates and charters happening. Please email me with a list of people from your town, city, or area. Try and let me know who is a "YES" and who is a "mAYBE." This is going to be a trip to remember!!! The boys in the band are very excited about going. As Travis said, "I wanna lay my ass down on the beach!" Keith says, "Irie!" Mikey says, "Let's Do It!!!" Are you gonna make the INCIDENTS IN JAMAICA?!!! one love, greer ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD8.DF499CA0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Scoobie To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Date: Tue, 3 Mar 1998 08:17:26 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Digest leftover scoobie levin ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD8.DF499CA0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "vann@his.com" To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" Subject: New photo links on the fan page Date: Tue, 3 Mar 1998 08:44:33 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Just a quickie... Jeff--obviously quaffing a yard of delicious India Pale Ale or something similar...either that or he's spelling out the chorus to "YMCA" (you all remember the Village People, right?) Tye--playing scissors, paper, rock by himself. The saddest part is, he always loses. Drew--"WHAYASAY???" Anybody else want to take a stab at it?
