Date: Thu, 5 Mar 1998 19:51:22 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hey Now, It's not on either the LoS or Wetlands web pages but I've heard a thoroughly unsubstantiated rumor that the boyz will be playing Wetlands in NYC on 3/31 and 4/1 -- in other words the days before the phish mini-tour starts! Hoo boy what a run of music if it's true!!! So has anyone heard anything about this one way or the other? Thanks, Steve ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD9.57E8F9D0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Timothy Lynch To: LoSers Subject: 13 great songs from 13 fine women artists (nLoSc) Date: Fri, 6 Mar 1998 00:26:50 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit WOMEN'S WORK (1996: Putamayo World Music) Mar. 5, 1998 - da Flower Punk Here in Berkeley, where Columbus Day was replaced by Indigenous People's Day years ago, the fact that most public school folks don't work on International Women's Day is taken for granted. But in most other cities, from what we hear, it ain't really so. It's kind of foreign of an idea some say. Add to that fact this concept: The song that is written well makes everyone who hears it richer. Compute the abstractions with a copy of "Putamayo Presents: Women's Work," playing loudly. Tomorrow. Or is that today? How about now? Whatever year it is? Ani DiFranco; Catie Curtis; Janis Ian; Barbara Kessler; Eliza Gilkyson; Toshi Reagon; Ferron; Laura Love; Toni Childs. And several others, just as good! Imagine a mix of relatively new music -- we're not talking in terms of the miniature half-life of a pop song -- that might sound good over many, many listening sessions and help point you in the direction of women who write *great* songs. In other words, this CD lives up to the hype. "Powerful songs and beautiful voices - an exceptional collection of some of today's best female singer-songwriters." Not bad for a compilation. You'll find the label alright too if you look deeper. __________________________flowerpunkprods__________________________ Putamayo World Music / 627 Broadway / NYC, NY / 10012 (212) 995-9400 // (212) 966- 4458 ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD9.57E8F9D0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Taz To: LOSers Subject: Fw: Erik Hagen (fwd) Date: Fri, 6 Mar 1998 05:07:34 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > From: OleH > Date: Thursday, March 05, 1998 5:39 PM > > Despratly in search of someone going to Telluride? > I live in Galesburg, IL, (Yep thats a long ass haul). I literally got rammed by an exceptionally hairy young man who decided for no reason to take a running jump -on top of- our table. I got drenched with beer, so he tried to console me by laying his hairy arm, pit and all, along my shoulders further soaking me. I was not smelling like roses after this show ;) H. ------ =_NextPart_000_01BD4DD9.57E8F9D0--
