I only have one complete LOS show (10.4.97), and a few others sets, but have lots of Phish and WSP to trade. I'd also be willing to send out B&P if anyone is willing to offer it up. My Phish list is at: www.tapetrading.com/lists/b/b.kenna@students.oglethorpe.edu.html If you'd like to check out my entire list, email me and I'll email it to you. Thanks a bunch, pasta to all. The reason? The digest forms of the lists. By the time I even read the offer, the offer has been long closed. I would ask that occassionally people make offers to us digesters specifically to make sure that we get in on some of the good stuff! And to put my money where my mouth is, the first 3 digesters who email me get to pick any tape off my list for blanks/postage or a trade, if they prefer. copy and paste the first few lines of the digest into the message so I know. I was just thinking that maybe there were other digest folks, like me, who sometimes read their digests and see a tape they've been dying for, only to scroll a few messages down and see the offer closed. D'oh! I just thought a few digest only offers (as well as a few non digest only I suppose, or newbie only, etc, etc) would be a nice idea/gesture every once in a while. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding - I swear I wasn't bitching, just thinking out loud. -R- ----__ListProc__NextPart____LEFTOVER__digest_900 Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 21:28:57 -0500 From: Steve Tighe To: Leftover@lists.colorado.edu, sci@netspace.org Subject: Re: an observation about tape offers Message-ID: <3519BD68.E6DA75FD@erols.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Robyn Stein wrote: > Hi folks - recently, as our lists continuing growing, I have found > that it is next to impossible for me to take advantage of any of the > generous tape offers that are made. Thanks -R- On the moe.listserv, people often make split offers - i.e. the first three digesters and the first three non-digesters make it. It seems to work pretty well. Typically the way to verify you're a digester is to include the digest# in the reply. Lately I've gotten to noticing that there is no band, I mean this, *no other band* out there that regularly gives as good a soundboard feed as Leftover Salmon gives to its tapers. Period. I'm sure there are any number, but as far as popular bands go, the first that comes to mind for me is the Radiators. Having said that, I must agree that we are routinely treated to a fine SBD feed at LoS shows. Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII I think you are right, Russ. In my enthusiasm I overlooked the Radz. Their soundman Kenny deserves all the same kudos Steve does. Still, my original point, even if slightly overstated, is that it is a rare and wonderful thing to have such unrestricted access to such sweet soundboards as the Radz and LoS regularly provide. I had the pleasure of talking by phone with Fool's Progress bassist Curtis Thompson this morning. He reports that the group is very excited about this recording project, which is as of yet untitled. It will feature songs that the group has never released before. Fans of the group may be familiar with some of the tracks from concerts and live tapes. These tracks include "Green," "It Isn't Theirs," "Hollow Ground," "Long Way Till Tomorrow," and one of my personal favorites, "Guide My Boat." The band is also recording several songs written by guitarist and vocalist Reid Foehl that are so new they have not been heard by Fool's Progress fans yet. Fool's Progress has not performed in front of an audience since New Year's Eve, before a packed house in Hartford, Connecticut. That was long-time drummer Matt Coconis' last show with the group. The band recruited Kenny Aronoff, a veteran of countless studio sessions, to do this recording project. "It was great working with Kenny," Thompson said. "He's a *great* drummer and a really nice guy." It was Aronoff who pointed Fool's Progress in the direction of their new road drummer, a student and colleague of Aronoff's who has worked with him for the last four years and has been making a name for himself in the Nashville studio circuit. (It is a name I unfortunately can't share this morning because I garbled my notes and don't want to get it wrong. His first name is Tom and he's from Indiana, like Aronoff.) "We auditioned a lot of people" for the drummer's spot, Thompson said, adding that they are very happy with their selection. Morphine drummer Billy Conway sat behind the drums on one track of the new recording as well. Preparation for the recording was done in a month long bout of pre- production on Nantucket Island, followed by ten days laying down the basic tracks at the Longview Farms Studios, in North Brookfield, Massachusetts. Post-production overdubs and mixing is expected to last five weeks and is being overseen by Danny Bernini. Bernini has been involved with all of the Acoustic Junction and Fool's Progress CDs released. It is his third time serving as producer for the group. Rumors have circulated that an extremely well-known singer-songwriter is recording some backing vocal tracks with Fool's Progress for this project. This may yet happen, but to date negotiations and scheduling have not been finalized, Thompson said, so nothing is definite on that story. There is no definite release date for the CD yet scheduled. But Thompson added that "the label is being really supportive. They are as excited about this project as we are." In other Fool's Progress news, the band will begin nationwide touring again in mid-April. The tour will open on the east coast, spending about a month there, where the band has its largest and most dedicated following. They will then begin working their way west, arriving in this part of the world in June. They then hope to start on the festival circuit during the summer months, but that portion of the band's plans is still in formulation. "We're really looking forward to playing live again," Thompson said. "It's been too long." Fans of the band are surely looking forward to that as well. It's been too long. _____________________________flowerpunkprods_______________________________ ----__ListProc__NextPart____LEFTOVER__digest_900-- ----__ListProc__NextPart__890954490445477245--
