"Oops! Careful, it's slippery". a kind, deep voice said as strong arms reached out to catch the petite girl.
"Oh, don't I know it! I've been slipping and sliding all day, and it's not just because I'm a klutz either!" the girl laughed, shaking her head.
She turned to face the mysterious stranger who caught her and came face to face with with a pair of beautiful brown eyes that seemed very familiar.
"Thanks for breaking my fall, I really appreciate it. It could have been quite nasty". the girl said with an english accent.
"No problem. I'm just glad that I was at the right place at the right time to meet someone as lovely as you". the stranger replied, with an American accent.
The girl blushed and looked down at her feet," I don't know if I quite agree with you on that. I don't see anything too special about myself. But I thank you all the same. It's really quite sweet of you to say".
"Your welcome. I love saying nice things to people to make them happy. It makes me happy". the stranger was quite taken with the girl.
Standing five feet, three inches, she was very slender and petite. She had the appearance of being very fragile and insecure, at the same time, strong and independant. She wore slim black dress pants with black platform shoes. Her shirt was covered by a teal greenish/blue winter coat. She had shoulder length, light brownish/blonde hair and bright laughing blue eyes. Although somewhat average looking, she always seemed to turn people's heads.
"What's your name?" asked the stranger, who the girl had recognized now as BSB AJ McLean.
"My name is Mackenzie. My friends call me Max". the girl answered.
"I'm...." the stranger started.
"Alexander James McLean. Otherwise known as 'Mr.Cool'. Yes, I know who you are. In fact, I'm going to the show tonight. And quite looking forward to it as well". Max finished, with a lopsided smirk.
"Wow, and here I thought that you had no idea who I was. I kinda liked being unknown". AJ said.
"Well, I'm not exactly the kind of girl who screams and faints when she comes in contact with someone famous. After all, you are normal people, you might as well be treated like the rest of us". Max answered.
"Cool, I wish more people had that attitude. Don't get me wrong, I love having girls screaming over me, it's really flattering, but sometimes it's kinda hard to get to know someone when they are just standing there going ' do you know who you are?' I mean, yeah I know who I am, I'm just a normal guy, treat me like one, even if it means turing me down!" AJ laughed.
Max smiled and said," Don't worry, I'll treat you as a normal person. So, where are you headed? And how come you're all by your lonesome?"
"I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count". AJ dared.
Max pretended to be deep in thought, "Hmm, you couldn't be on your way to Mickey D's, could you?" she asked sweetly.
"How'd you ever guess? Yeah, I am. Would you like to join me?" AJ asked.
Max's eyes widened in surprize, but she smiled, " Sure, I'd love to. If you want to know the truth, I was actually on my way there myself. My roomate decided to experiment with lunch today, so I thought I better go a safer route."
They headed off then, talking and laughing. They spent a good hour and a half in the restaurant then, just talking and getting to know each other. As it turned out, they had many things in common. Their style of clothing and way of dressing was the same, they both wore many rings, chains, braceletes and ear rings. They both had tatoos and loved to change their hairstyles freguently. At the time however, Max's hair was completely back to normal.
They both loved to write poetry and read Shakespeare and cuddle up in front of a warm fire under a blanket. It seemed like these two were meant to be together.
"I've got an idea". Max said, looking at her wristwatch.
"I'm listening, you have my undivided attention". AJ sat with his chin in his hands, staring intently at her.
She laughed and replied," It's quarter to two. Which means that there is still lots of time before the show. I'm guessing that you haven't done much sight-seeing yet, have you?"
AJ shook his head,"No, I haven't. But I had planned on it".
"Let me take you to one of London's most beautiful places then. The Kew Gardens. It's so lovely and romantic". Max sighed and got a faraway dreamy look on her face.
"It sounds wonderful. Let's go!" AJ stood up, ready to leave.
They left the restaurant and walked the few blocks to Max's apartment. They took her car and within a few minutes were at the Gardens. They spent the next three hours still talking and wandering around. And after a little while, Max was so busy explaining things about the flowers and London's history, that she didn't even notice when AJ took her hand in his.
She drove AJ back to his hotel and they said good bye.
"I had a lot of fun today, Alex. And I'm really looking forward to the show". Max said.
"Yeah, I think I had the most fun today that I have had in a long time. Thank you. I'll look for you in the audience, I may have a little surprize for you. Don't forget to come backstage afterwards, I can't wait for the guys to meet you". AJ looked happy and excited.
Max frowned and looked disappointed, "I don't have backstage passes. They won't let me in".
"Sure they will. Just tell them that you are a friend of mine and then they'll come and get me. I'll make sure you get in". AJ smiled and leaned over.
He gave her a quick little kiss on the cheek and got out of the car.
"See you later, sunshine". He blew her another kiss and turned to go.
Max pretended to catch the kiss and smiled to hide her surprize at the fact that he kissed her.
She waved through the window and mouthed the words, "See you later".
