Oh finally! After all those shows and long interviews, I can finally get some time to sleep! Though I know I won't sleep well. It's a very crazy bumpy ride. This is what happens when we use a new bus driver.
I noticed Howie's already asleep. So did Kevin. AJ was talking, as usual, to Donna. I can't hear what they were talking about. Nick sat in front of me so I couldn't see what he was doing. The tour bus was huge. There were plenty of seats for each of us, so we didn't have to share.
Aside
from AJ's blabbing, the bus was really quiet. Everybody's getting sleepy.
I closed my eyes. I felt like I'm floating...
Ah!
There's my home.. I can see it from the clouds... Dear old Lex-city! There's
Mom.. Dad... Harold... They're waving and calling me to dinner... Oh What
a beautiful sight... And there's...
"Hey! Want some ice cream?"
Boom! I fell to the ground. I realised I was dreaming. After snapping back to reality, I widened my eyes to see whose voice it was. Julie was standing on Nick's left, swinging a large pack of Haagen Dazs in front of his face. Her other hand was carrying a plastic bag filled with loads of junk food.
Oh. She was talking to Nick. So she wasn't talking to me then. I felt a little disappointed. Then she noticed I was watching her through my half closed eyes. Her face turned red.
"Oh
no! Did I wake you, Bri?" she asked in a guilty look.
"Kinda,"
I said. Just teasing her. She appologized over and over, looking real embarrassed.
My eyes examined her carefully. Admiring her shoulder-length silky brown hair, her sweet face -- which was extremely cute when she's blushing like that! And a pair of green beautiful eyes. I thought I could just look into those eyes for ages.
Then I realised she was still apologizing. Yeah, while I'm drooling over her. How embarassing!
I convinced her it was OK. I suddenly didn't need sleep anymore. I rose to my feet and approached her. I peeked inside the plastic bag she's holding and pulled out another pack of Haagen Dazs. I really wasn't in the urge to eat ice creams, but as long as I could get close to her....
Julie was checking the plastic bag, looking for a Coke can AJ ordered. She ducked. I took the chance to take a closer look on her. She's not tall, but with her slim figure she looked absolutely cute. She's only a few inches taller from my shoulder. Oh there we go again. She caught me drooling over her once again. She must thought I was gonna eat her!
Nick interrupted our quiet, intimate moment. "I want the choco bar you bought yesterday," he asked her. Julie rolled her eyes. "I didn't buy any choco bar yesterday, Nick," she answered softly. At that moment the ice in my hands melted. I almost forgot all about it! I unwillingly sat down and start to shovel the ice.
Then I over-heard Nick's begging voice, wanting Julie to feed him the ice cream. I stepped in, "Hey Kiddo! Don't be so lazy, will ya!" Nick didn't seem to be annoyed. He continued his begging. He's starting to use Aaron's begging expression. Then he held her hand and pulled her to the seat next to him. I deliberately wished to kill him. Julie gave me a desperate look, then she surrendered to Nick's will. Frack looked so happy... I thought to myself. Of course he would! Having Julie by my side feeding me ice cream would make me sincerely die of happiness!
My
stomach hurt.
Is
Nick falling in love with Julie?
Does
Julie feel the same to Nick? After all, she's only a year younger than
him...
My
stomach ached more.
"Why do you think so, Bri?" Nick asked me back. I tried to act cool. "Well, you begged her to feed you in the bus, and you took her spoon while she was eating dinner, and... apparently you sticked to her almost all the time!" I spurted it out, trying to speak with indifferent tone. Jealousy clearly displayed on my face. I tried to ignore it.
Nick didn't realised my envious look. Instead, he grabbed a pillow and spinned it on top of his forefinger, like spinning a basketball. I waited 30 seconds, Nick's still concentrating on the pillow. He's driving me crazy! Then a slip occured. Nick dropped the pillow. He sighed. "I like her. That's it. I'm not in love with her..."
My heart started to pound normally. Nick continued his unfinished sentence, "...but then again, she's very attractive." My heart skipped a beat.
What?! If me and him are aftering the same girl, the band would definitely be heading to destruction! And I'm not looking forward to be rivals with my bestest buddy, either. Nick opened his mouth for the next phrase. I held my breath.
"But Y'know," he said ignorantly. "I think it's not going to be well between me and her. She's my hair stylist and I treated her like, treating BJ, for example. I think I consider her as a sister. So we cannot be involved in any kind of romance."
He
stopped. Realising something. "Hey! What am I telling you this for?"
I
giggled. "I'm your best buddy, Pal! You gotta tell everything to me! Besides,
where did you get that romance theory from? The Book Of Love?" I ended
up laughing. Both laughing for funny and laughing for joy.
Nick
studied my face. "Boy you look happy. What happened?"
"Nothing!
Good night, Frack!" I stepped out from his room, leaving him with a curious
look upon his face.
"Nothing,
Frack. It's just that you've saved the group from a major love fight,"
I whispered, saying the words to myself. I went down the corridor heading
for my room, whistling all the way. Then I bumped to Julie. I gathered
all the guts inside of me, then said to her in the most romantic way I
know,
"Julie,
there's something I gotta say to you....."
A month later, on a sunny beach in Florida......
"Friiiiiick! Stop throwing sands to my hair!"
"I couldn't help it, Pretty Boy!"
"Whoa! Stop messing it up! Get off, will ya!"
"Your hair looks awful, Nick."
"I know that, Julie. Now please do something to it."
"Haha. Don't you remember? This is holiday! I'm not a hairstylist right now, I'm off duty!"
"Aaaargh! You're siding on your boyfriend, aren't you? I should've known!"
"Thank you for helping me, Julie. Here's a kiss for thanks."
"Aw Brian... I kinda like the credit."
"Hey you two! Stop kissing! This isn't a private beach!"
But nobody listens to Nick. Up above, the skies are shining blue, the wind blows gently... and this is definitely Brian's favorite holiday!
