The story
Set around a hospital, the concept for this video was devised by Nick, Brian, Howie, Kevin and AJ. A big tearjerker, it's all about loss and loneliness - something that Backstreet have experienced a lot of late. Howie's scene is related to the tragic death of his sister Caroline from Lupus two years ago. Kevin's refers to the loss of his father in 1991. Brian's recalls his major heart operation in 1998, while AJ's deals with the loss of a relationship and Nick's is about the loneliness of being on the road.
The place
The video was shot in downtown Los Angeles, in and outside a hotel which by day houses homeless people. The director, Stuart Gosling, chose this location because of its drabness. He wanted to keep it real and didn't want the people in the background of the shots to care about the band's celebrity status.
The Shoot
Filming for the video took place over four nights, from 6pm until 6am the following morning. The poor guys had to start filming immediately after the final show of their tour - so last-night partying was out of the question. Although the video took ages to shoot, the boys were on set together for just one night because most of their scenes were shot individually. December isn't the best month to be outside ~ even in Los Angeles. it was freezing cold! But the rain you see in the video isn't real - Stuart Gosling used special rain machines to create that wintry feel.
Between Takes
The lads were exhausted from their mammoth tour so when they weren't huddling
around heaters and drinking coffee, they were catching up on some well-needed shut-eye in their trailers.
The Trouble
Local residents got fed up with the noise coming from the set one morning and treated the boys to a shower of rubbish and empty bottles hurled from apartment windows! It's just non-stop glamour being a Backstreet Boy, isn't it?
