After driving for about 45 min. me, my sis, my dad, my friend Brie, and my sis's friend Kyla finally reached the race city speedway... well we were pretty close but all the cars were piled up. The traffic was held back forever. Some people even decided to abandone their cars and walk the rest of the way. so after waiting almsot an hour we arrived. First The Philosopher Kings came on...their 'mosh pit' was made up of 2 people one of which ended up singing a couple songs with them... and the funniest part when they were on was the singer is like "are you all having fun???" and then the crowd is like "NOOOO!" then he was all pissed off and i dont think he liked us much after that.. ah well it cracked me up.. After them it was Dodgy...they were pretty good. the singer talked quite a bit and added in about how they had to drive on the left side of the road to get there since the traffic was piled up so bad, but that's how they drive in England. Finally when Dodgy ended everyone started chanting 'silverchair'. After awhile of that people started setting up ben's drums and all of daniel's guitars and everything (i was amazed with how many he had..there was like just racks of them...it was pretty cool)...there was also heaps of people.. like the moshpit was unbelievable... there was 23000 people there... After a bit they finally came on (it was about 3:00pm)..the songs that they played were:

Daniel talked a lot to the crowd.. like at most gigs before Abuse Me he introduced Bailey Holloway as Tony Iommi. He also said "I'm going to make up a song right now," he said. "Usually it's easier but today's not a good day. Calgary... is fun for me, to have a tea... or hang a pee!"...then he dedicated The Door to all the babes in the crowd. and said the next song would be to all the studs. Then Daniel said something like "this next song is called pawn for spawn and it's about fucking aliens" and added in "we've never ever played this song live before so if we fuck it up it's your fault cuz that means you're pressuring us too much" so they started kickin Spawn away... halfway through it Daniel and Ben appeared to be a bit lost though... Chris was still jamming away on his bass...but after like 3 seconds of Daniel and Ben just looking around like 'oh shit!' Ben just started banging drums, and Daniel was pullin off riffs on his guitar and screaming...I don't think many of the people noticed that though cuz most of us hadnt heard the song yet because well of course it was the first time they had ever played it live and the soundtrack had just come out. Also Daniel did the normal thing where he changed the lyrics to a few songs.. like in Tomorrow he said "The water in Calgary is very hard to drink"... and in Freak he sang "Body and Soul I'm a freak" over and over like a bunch of times starting off quiet and slowly getting louder then screamed "BODY AND SOUL YOUR THE FUCKIN FREAKS" and in No Association instead of saying "Do You" he screamed "FUCK YOU". Since it was pretty hot out there.. and everyone seemed to be dieing... they already had these water hose things out and Daniel asked the venue to hose the crowd with water again but they woudldnt so daniel said "Sorry, they won't give you water - die!" Daniel also added in before one of the songs "are all you motherfuckers out there ready, did you hear me, i said ARE ALL YOU MOTHERFUCKERS READY". And occasionally added in between lines "EVERYONE FUCKIN JUMP". Of course Daniel Proudly took honors for most profanity on the set. At the end Ben chucked his drumsticks into the crowd... one almost hit me in the head but since i kept on havin stuff fly at me I automatically ducked before realizing what exactly it was and then i got like jumped by these people, one of them grabbed it. i was left with a few bruises, my whole upper leg sliced open, along with my jeans and tshirt now blood-stained and trying to stand up in the pit before i got trampled. After Ben & Chris had already left Daniel stayed on a bit and played soemthing that sounded like O' Canada on his guitar then left too. After it was all over we walked off... and everyone was like dieing from the heat.. and i just stood around for a bit... Brie & my sister decided to go get some of those like painted on tattoos at one of the tents set up. while they were getting them done i was watching econoline crush play. then some guy walked up to brie and said something like "your an angel strait from heaven" and she's just sitting there like what the hell?!? it was pretty funny then me and my sis had to go over and get autographs from econoline crush for her friend...which after waiting in line for an hour and a half we got them and also talked to Trevor Hurst from the band for a few mintues til some of the people behind got impatient and all pissy and were like threatening us to go away...so he hugged us goodbye and we left. So we went home and finally got through the crowd of cars... i'd have to say that was the best concert i have ever been to before in my life... i loved it and wouldnt have missed it for the world.. even though i still have scars from that moshpit..
