Thanks to Jaqui

I started off that day by my mum giving me an unpleasant wakeup call along with my friend (who slept over) and my sister. we quickly got packed and then walked up to the highschool to say our goodbyes for a couple days. after that we drove to the airport and flew to Vancouver (i live in Calgary). Once we got to Vancouver (it was around 1:15pm their time) we all rented a car and went to the hotel to drop off our stuff. Then we had the joy of finding the place. it took us about 30 minutes and we finally got there. Jewel, Brie & I quickly got out of the car and headed over to Lindsay (she lives just down the street from us) and we were by the tour bus. Then some girls walk up to me and ask me who i am, and turns out there are some of my friends from the net. so it was cool. after waiting around for about 2 hours, Jewel & Brie decided they were hungry so went to get food. I stayed behind with Lindsay though by the bus. The security guard kept coming out and threatening us to move to differnet places or he would kick us out. we listened everytime but he still wasnt satisfied. then he went inside and didnt come out for awhile. a few moments later a purple sports utility vehicle pulls up and we're are just thinking "oh no, more fans", but out comes Ben. It didnt quite kick in yet who it was or anything then Daniel walks out and we're like "oh my god there's silverchair." so we just kinda stood around for a bit, took some pics, got some autographs (well i didnt have anything to autograph but everyone else did) and we talked for like 10 - 15 minutes. somehow Chris just appeared out of nowhere and was talking to everyone too. Daniel didnt hang around much but he stopped and let us take some pictures, we all said hi and bye to him and Lindsay got him to pose in a pic with her. i took their picture and then they did the whole hand thing (long story), i almost got a pic of that too but some real tall person appeared like right in front of me. then Lindsay just walks away like "oh my god...oh my god" kinda in shock, then leans against the bus and is like "i'm going to throw up!" that cracked a smile on a few people. then she turns around and is like "woah Ben is still here!" so she talked to him a bit. She didnt notice chris there but i got pictures of all of them. After awhile they had to go to do soundcheck. About 5 minutes later Chris opens the door and was talking to us. Then Sam came out and was making weird faces and giving Chris bunny ears and stuff. Once we all got tons of pictures, Sam pulled out his camera, and decided it was his turn to take pictures of everyone. So he snapped a few shots then the security dragged them back in because "they were on a tight schedule and didn't need fans bothering them". But before he closed the door Chris told us he'd come back out. Me and Lindsay sat by the stairs to backstage from outside and listened to soundcheck after that. For soundcheck i heard them play Emotion Sickness and one other song...i can't remember which it was. Then the bassist from Nickelback came out and he was talking to us and i had to show him how to get backstage and stuff to put his equiptment back there. Then we sat there waiting and then i met another person from the net briefly but snuck into the bar for a few minutes to warm up because my skin was literally blue from being so cold. When they realized that I wasn't 18 they kicked me out though...so i went back to the cold outdoors. Ben & Chris came out briefly walked into the tour bus, then walked back out. After all this we sat around a bit longer waiting for the doors to open. About 10 minutes before they opened we are like "oh shit where do we hide or cameras?!?!" but we all figured out ways and didnt get caught with them :). Jewel, Brie, Lindsay, me and 2 other girls who i didn't know then went to the floor to wait for the bands to start. we were standing right next to the speaker for all of Nickelback. They were pretty good. After their set some guy came on to say in about 15 minutes silverchair would be on, they just have to set up the stage. Then about 30 minutes later they all walk out. before they were even out i was close to the front of the moshpit, in the middle and people were pushing and rocking back and forth and body surfing when there was no music playing. im just like "man if it is like this now id hate to see how bad it gets once the music starts". then they kicked into Emotion Sickness and everyone just went wild. halfway through that song i got an asthma attack cuz almost everyone was smokin either ciggs or weed and i was one of the shortest people there (almost everyone was like 6'4, i was like what the hell?!?) and so i pushed my way out of the moshpit, well i went to the calmer side of it until i regained air, then i went back in. I somehow got seperated from everyone else so was alone for the rest of the concert. but briefly said hi to one of my friends when i got like pushed passed her. I got several more asthma attacks throughout the show but wasnt going to let lack of oxygen ruin my time. I also got injured in there along with almost everyone else. I was burning hot the whole concert cuz i was already wearing my Tool shirt, then i went and bought a sc shirt for myself, which i had to put on since i had nowhere else to put it, and i couldn't find Jewel so i had to wear her shirt too, which ended up being 3 tshirts in a sweety moshpit. Daniel talked tons during the concert. he said things like after Emotion Sickness he went "thanx thanx thanx thanx thanx fuckin thanx thank you very much". and before Point Of View he said "We love you guyz so don't be offended by this song". and then he talked about how Vancouver is the rock capital of the world. Daniel also said "Can I get a Hallelujah!" the corwd went "Hallelujah" then Daniel screamed "Can i get a Hallelujah!!" the crowd yelled back "Hallelujah" and then Daniel screamed "CAN I GET A HALLE FUCKING LUJAH!!" and the crowd went "HALLE FUCKING LUJAH". Before Satin Sheets Daniel said something like "HUGH! what the fuck do you think you're doing? we are embarrassed by you!We are silverchair, a professional fucking rock band, and this is crap and we aren't going to fucking take it anymore. We're going home to Australia, but first we're gonna rock! " (Hugh is the guy who does the lighting). and then he made up a song about Busta Rhymes and said part way through it "sorry i'm just repeating what i said on telly". Before Tomorrow they switched his mic and he talked about how they switched his mic so we could get perfect clarity of everything and so we could listen to all his political statements. then said "#1 believe in something...believe in something...that is my first statement, i don't know what the hell i'm talking about so ignore me!". Before they played Paint Pastel Princess Daniel said "do not throw gifts for us, no gifts we don't want anything, we are here to give to you, just enjoy the music, don't even talk just enjoy the music!". He also made up a rap song about how much Sam & silverchair rocked. Part way through Anthem For The Year 2000 all the lights went out, so it was pitch black inside but they kept rocking and everyone kept jumping. Then after they came back on Daniel made his comment to Hugh, but he was joking around. For the encore though Hugh proved himself pretty good with the lighting. In the song Freak when he sings "body and soul i'm a freak" and sang it over and over again exaggerating on the K in freak. in no association he changed a few words around like instead of "do you" he screamed "fuck you". in Anthem for the Year 2000, he put his hands above his head and clapped along to Ben's Drums and then said "we are the youth - we are the youth" over and over again til we started doing the same and then "we are the youth" crowd: "we are the youth" Daniel: "we are the youth" crowd"we are the youth" and that went on for quite awhile. occasionally in the songs he would add in "JUMP!". he said tons more but i can't remember it all right now. Also during Madman Daniel just like stopped playing and turned white as a ghost and was staring blankly at the crowd then started playing againand after the song he said "sorry i spooked". After the concert i went back to where the tour bus was because i had to, to get to the car...and i sat there for a few moment but everyone was pissin me off screaming things like "Daniel!! come out, i wanna see you naked" and stuff like that. so i went to find everyone. we finally went back to the hotel, dozed off in seconds, then flew back to Calgary the next morning. It all still feels like it was a dream, and i can't believe it's already over with. I am still killing from the mosh pit, which was BRUTAL! but am slowly recovering. i didn't notice Daniel talking to himself like many people said he's done at previous shows. all in all it was an amazing show! even though i looked and felt like shit by the time it was over.
