Biography

So you want to know when and how fur formed?
Well here is the story as best as I know it. Some facts may be wrong or I may have left some parts out so dont shoot. I am just a fan like you guys remember.

It all started in about 1993. Three 17 year old girls living in the Gold Coast in Queensland decided to start a band. This band was Fur. The original members of the group were

Mindy - Bass
Michelle - Drums.

Soon after, however, Michelle moved to Brisbane and lost interst in playing drums so left the band. The band were signed to the indie record label Fallahen after sending them a demo and released their first single Fix It / Chocolate Sea 7". This is where the 2nd drummer, Simon stepped in. Although he didnt last long before their thrid drummer, Peter appeared. (Keeping up with this? It only gets more confusing from here on in!). Peter was the drummer who appeared on the bands debut EP "Find what you like and let it kill you". He also did a little touring but before they knew it he decided to call it quits and they were back to the 2nd drummer Simon (told you..but just wait there's more!) Simon recorded on the "Loosing Your Marbles" EP and just like Peter also decided to call it a day!

However, all was not lost as there good old pal Michelle (remember her?) had got back into drumming and after seeing Fur play live decided to join the band again. (Phwoar! We made it). Michelle has now been back with the band a few years and seems here to stay.

At current count Fur have 9 releases and are currently focusing their attention on a follow up to The Betty Shakes. With past support gigs with bands including Superchunk and Buffelo Tom, tours with the likes of Powderfinger and Jebediah and two national Big Day Out spots you would have to class Fur as one of the premier bands in Australia. And with their biggest single yet, Jimmy Rogers, being their latest release maybe we have only just seen the beginning of this great Aussie  band!
